What may be LSU’s most top heavy position in terms of production. If everything goes according to plan and Daniel Bradshaw becomes the hybrid long inning relief specialist then LSU should be in good hands. Bradshaw had a very solid campaign last year as a sophomore after having a dismal first half of the season as a freshman playing in the wrong role. Daniel has the ability to pitch a complete game as he did last year against Georgia so stamina will not be an issue if the game is on the line. Mitch Mormann a tall and powerful presence on the mound is LSU’s most polished pitcher as a newcomer along with Bourgeois. He has all of the tools physically to compete, just needs to work on consistently hitting the strike zone. Mormann has four quality pitches and once he gets his command down I have a feeling he could push for a starters role, he’s that good. Jordan Rittiner and Zach LaSuzzo have been the most talented freshmen as of yet. Rittiner a crafty lefthander has nowhere near the velocity that will touch the mid 90’s, however his arm slot much like Ott’s is deceiving to hitters. LaSuzzo also has had a great fall and spring as of yet and I honestly feel he will become the go to lefty out the pen. Mike Reed the young man from the Houston area another very talented young individual who will see time this year in mop up early on. Needs to polish his pitches, but has plenty of time to do so. Shane Reidie and Ben Alsup, I didn’t list here because I think they will start off if no one else steps up as the most likely candidates to start midweek. Paul Bertuccini man’s the setup spot for what seems like the past five years and will do so with plenty of protection in Ott if he gets in trouble. With Bert’s nasty uncle charlie and movement he will be a staple to this setup. Matty Ott the freshman all-american and closer who set records at LSU is back in the same spot. Hoping to build off of last year he basically just needs to keep the superstitions he had last year because frankly, they worked.

Totally agree but Bradshaw has looked terrible the past month. Hope he gets it together. We need him bad. Don't see Reidie as a starter though.

Reported today that Kansas' best player will miss the LSU series.
LINK
Tony Thompson led the Big 12 with a .389 average, 21 homers and 82 RBIs last year.
For those still laughing at Kansas baseball, the Jayhawks swept Texas in Big 12 play last year.

that sucks, I wanted to get to see him play. I'll actually be in Baton Rouge the weekend Kansas plays LSU and then back in St Louis when they play at St Louis U.

That's a nice picture and all, but why did you feel the need to put it in the baseball preview thread?

He has a mean fastball. Can't wait to see him gain some control and put it into action.

Seriously though, Kansas baseball was an anomaly just like Kansas football.
