This was suppose to be the strength of the team. Who do you think will be back next year?

Both sides of the line are weak. So far worst Lsu performance in many years. One would think Curley Hallman was coaching.

They said he put in a new scheme
Very bad timing IMO

Collins-Senior. Gone
Porter-Senior. Gone
Hawkins-Junior, not sure he should go pro, might not get drafted
Pocic-will be back
ALexander-Junior, he shouldn't go pro, would be a late round pick at this point

Hmmm . . .

Is it better to install a new o-line scheme:

(1) this year when all of the offensive skill positions are being replaced, the DTs are being replaced, and LSU has no chance of making a title run, OR

(2) next year when the rest of the team is clicking, and the O-line would be a huge impediment to us back from a title run?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

exactly what I have been saying...stupid to try something new when you are supposed to have one of the strongest OL in the country.
...if it any broke, don't fix it...

to add more stupid... you do not take chances w the OL with VERY young QBs.

Miles should have overridden this as a head coach for this year... and I would guess this was discussed before the hire.

Who knows for sure if Pocic will be the only returning starter next season?

Last year, most thought Collins would go pro, but he returned, and Turner would return, but he went pro.

Not sure yet on both Hawkins and Alexander.

The Off Line will be bad next year. People keep saying this team is young. Not so much.

Are we sure that they installed a "new scheme"? LSU has used zone blocking before. Someone will have to help me out on this because I don't enough about OL play to tell without studying tape, which I'm not going to do. Is it confirmed that we are teaching a new scheme?

Regardless if they've done it before, zone blocking is useless if you're trying to have a power running attack. Unless LSU is planning on switching to a spread offense the Grimes hire makes no sense.

+1
even if they were planning on switching in the future, this was not the year to start the changes...not w such a strong OL and with the QBs we have....these changes are making the QBs job much harder
