I know I'll probably get flamed because many people on here think our offense is about as bad as junior high team. But honestly if anyone would watch the games we've played so far we are just so close to being explosive. We constantly have receivers open on every single play and they run beautiful routes. It's old news but if Jennings just had any sense of pocket presence and would scan the field our offense would be putting up huge numbers. Call me stupid or whatever you may please but the proof is on the game film. The o-Line is playing much better, the backs are picking up blocks much better we just need that one guy that will stay in the pocket, look at every receiver and not be afraid of taking a hit in the pocket. Mett was honestly one of the best at not being afraid of taking a hit and that's why we put up big numbers. Sure we had Jarvis and beckham but QB play was the main impact. This offense is close, we just need the last piece of that puzzle.

maybe we should have used those rent-a-win games to give the qbs some practice learning how to scan the field.

I don't disagree with that assessment at all.

It's amazing how difficult it is to move your eyes from one side of the field to the other in 2.5 seconds.

I'm not convinced he isn't seeing the field. I just think he's scared to turn it loose if the target isn't wide open.

By far the biggest improvement on the team.

Anthony Jennings isn't 30 passes away from being able to go to his second receiver. This argument sounds nice, but really wouldn't have made a difference.

Or we just played two really bad teams. May have had something to do with it. Sorry to bring logic to the thread though.

Florida's offense is bad, yes. But the defense is not.

I'm afraid they are doing the same thing with Jennings that they did with Jefferson. They are starting to roll him out on passing plays. They are doing this because they don't feel he has the ability to read the defense and by rolling him out, he only has to read basically 1/3 of the field. Problem is, the defense only has to defend basically 1/3 of the field.

I believe you are correct. By the time the WR is open, it's too late to throw it probably because Jennings has such a long delivery and not much velocity on the ball. Jennings throwing window is a lot smaller than it should be.

Jennings needs to time up three or four routes with the WRs so he can make the throws to a spot before the WRs make their cuts. That takes a lot of practice and a lot of game time trust.

He knows the fastest way to the bench is to throw INTs, so this is likely a part of it.

I don't understand why we don't turn loose our junior quarterbacks in these situations.

It's why I left the Sam Houston game so dissapointed. We could have thrown every route in our arsenal at them in an effort to get Jennings to look around and we just didn't. It was obvious that the deep ball was there, but instead of spreading the ball around, we chose to let a qb that locks in on a WR too much do just that. Every aspect of our team has vastly improved throughout the season, there is just one position that stayed behind. Hopefully it takes a major leap forward this Saturday.

This is exactly right.

The question is, how many incompletions and sacks are equal to one int.

It also depends on the type of int. An intercepted third down bomb is basically equivalent to a punt. So that's low risk.

However an int inside your own 50 is usually pretty devastating.

This right here. Jennings is a little scared, and Brandon doesn't seem to have enough experience to be scared.

I think it would help to get in rhythm to go to a short pass right after a long completion. Even if it is a fb dumpoff, just do what we can to string some completions together. Its tough to get in any sort of rhythm when you only pass it 2-3 times a drive .

I'm a little upset we didn't use the end of the UK game to work some passing game kinks out. Threw for like 13 yards in the 2nd half. That's the one miles criticism I buy into, that he coasts to early rather than work on things that need be worked on.

Harris has a quick release and throws the ball with some velocity, also has better touch throwing the screens and roll outs. Throws very well on the run. He also is a more effective runner and is much more decisive both in the pocket and when to take off.

This is happening because our o line hasn't been blocking all that week this year. Ole miss is going to torch our line and we are going to need to get out of the pocket
