of course, and I don’t deny that.

i’m merely saying that there’s a limit to how much better hands can get, regardless of how much a player practices.
Again, we're not looking to turn guys into Odell - We want to see LSU WRs, TEs, RBs get the reps they need to routinely make all the standard catches that are thrown well within the "WR's strike zone" (arm's length - forward, back, above, below).

"You might go through a whole practice and get two to three passes," [Mike] Wallace said. "And to me that's not enough to get better that day. But if you're catching 100 before practice and 100 after practice, you've caught 203 balls that day instead of catching three."

Between 2010 and 2012, Antonio Brown, Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders learned the subtle art of playing wide receiver from professor Hines Ward. Catching 101 with the then-trio of Pittsburgh Steelers, known as the Young Money crew, began (and sometimes ended) with a daily session on the Jugs machine.

Sanders estimates he has caught "thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands" of balls from the machine. "It's definitely been pivotal for my success," he says.

Players are gifted with skills - some are fast, some are strong, some have great hands, etc. Practice can maximize those skills, but they can't create them.

I just think you're putting this Jugs machine cart ahead of the horse. OBJ and Landry weren't great because of Jugs machines, and I don't think our guys catching woes is due to not having enough access to a Jugs machine.
OBJ/Landry had a work ethic to where they were unreasonably focused on their craft. You think our guys are just begging for Jugs machine access and they aren't getting it? Come on.

Not having access to a Jugs machine is a reasonable excuse not to work on your craft. But the type of work you want to see is unreasonable. That's the type of work ehtic that'll drive to Metairie and work out with pros if they have to get the work in. You can't mandate a great work ethic, you either have it or you don't.

They must have been sending their body doubles to Bogies.

I bought a lot of drinks for some guy named Jervis Landry. No relation to Jarvis, if Coach asked

Yes. It certainly CAN be mandated. It should be part of all Strength & Conditioning workouts. And it should be part of EVERY scheduled practice.

Work ethic is a big part of why these two young men are successful zillionaires.

I know WRs can be diva-ish - and certainly OBJ is no exception, but that doesn't change the fact that both of these kids took average size and above average athletic ability, leveraged hard work into making themselves elite.

Has to be a lesson in there for the youngsters, right?

You do realize that in college athletics you have a fixed amount of time with which to work with the student-athletes, right?

You work on one thing, that means you're working less on another thing. As much as I rag on Ensminger, I'm quite sure he's aware of what a balanced schedule for WR training looks like and that's what he implements.

LOL Do you? The NCAA calls it the "20 Hour" rule. And it is loaded with exemptions.

A WR can easily get 100 catching reps in 15 minutes - much less if well structured. And coaches are not required during Jugs drills (another exemption).

The elite passing schools already do this (like Ohio State... 5000+ yds passing in '18)
