We still should have played Okie State regardless

So what you're say is LSU would not have beaten USC, and it's better that LSU didn't get a shot to get the "outright" national championship? (Obviously the crystal ball means much more than the AP title, but still. There would be no debate had LSU had an opportunity to beat USC)

I do think LSU beats Ok State and probably flips Landon Collins...

if we wouldn't have beat oregon to open the season we probably would've played them after osu was out.
also, boise missed a fg against nevada that derailed their bid at the height of the boise hype train.

I agree with this. It would have been considered as one of the best seasons of all time.
Take out 1/9/12 and what LSU did in the 2011 season HAS to rank up here with the greatest teams in the modern era going back to 1960...at least. Beat WVU, Oregon, GA, Arkansas(3), Alabama(2).
It was remarkable.

I still think Saban beats Miles all those years no matter what.
No. NOBODY beats Saban when he has an extra bye week to prepare for them. Saban is an expert with that extra week to prepare and will continue to beat LSU as long as Bama's bye week is scheduled before the Bama-LSU game.

Every team and coach in the country can point to a game or single play or bounce of the ball and everything changes for a team or coach for that season.
If we win the title in 2011, we could still be sitting here 4-5 years later with a mediocre SEC record and .500 win percentage in the SECwest. We might not fire him at this point in the season with 2 championships but it wouldn't change the success or failures over the last 4-5 years.

Miles beat him in the 9-6 game with 2 weeks to prepare and a buildup to the "Game of the Century" and that was at T-Town. So it is actually pretty easy to beat him with two weeks to prepare even when he has arguably the greatest defensive team in their school's history.

LSU likely rolls in the Superdome.
We roll in the Dome and win the 2011 NC, we come back in November of 2012 and blow that game to Bama and finish second in the SECW at 6-2 instead of first then nothing changes.
We sink in 2013 to 5-3 in the SEC and even further in 2014 to 4-4. We all know what happened in 2015 and to date in 2016. I don't think we'd have been satisfied.
sure the Bama debacle in the Dome hurt, but what killed Miles began in 2012 in TS when he blew the game, and we screwed up the next three seasons.

that still eats at me. 2011 would have had an argument as the greatest championship team of all time. Would have beaten the Pac10 champ, Big East champ, Big 12 champ and an all world Bama team. I don't think any other prior national championship teams resume would have come close to that.
It would not have been an argument. LSU would have beaten THREE otherwise undefeated teams from major conferences, plus the Big East champion. And the Bama game was the only game all year decided by less than 13 points. There's not another team in history that would even be worth discussing for GOAT status.

It had happened like 5 times previously that 2 teams played during regular season, then met again for NC.
All 5 times the team that won the first matchup lost the rematch by double digits.
LSU had no chance in that rematch.
