i am sorry, but i think JJ starting next year will limit us and maybe prevent us from the SEC west title again. he's just too damn slow in making decisions; whether to run or whether to pass. he just doesn't seem to be able to make his progressions quick enough to see open receivers. we were very fortunate in this game that his primary WR was open, esp Tolliver on 2 of his TD plays (the fade is thrown early). assuming we'll get the running game going next year, he'll be servicable but not good enough for championships. A&M wasn't as good as several of the SEC teams we faced.

jj is straight line fast....his stride looks to be almost 4 yards. you have to appreciate that he has been hanging in the pocket and taking a shot to get off some pretty nice passes. did it a couple of times against a & m....another huge one was against bama. i think that really seperated him for lee as the competition heated up.
some would say his running ability, but i think it was his toughness that gave him the edge.

According to Matt Moscona, JJ said he had "prepared more of this game than ever before." Don't know if the extra weeks helped him or he finally got the fire under his butt to realize he needs to salvage something out of this season
I think he watched video of Mettenberger and that is what has lit a fire under his butt.He realizes that Mettenberger is the real deal.

He ran a 4.6 forty before the season. That's pretty fast for a QB.
4.6 is average skill position in college at best.

for the umpteenth time, he was given a chance and asked for a position change.

It's kind of a sorry, no one, in his young developement as a passer had the eye and desire to tell to use more rist action on his short and medium distance passes.I wish he could fix it.

What was most impressive about JJ in the Cotton Bowl is that he was decisive, whether it be throwing or running. He made up his mind to run and he ran. He made up his mind to throw and he threw. In all of the 2010 season, there were maybe 3 games where he showed something like this decisiveness, the rest of the time he looked confused and lost, and his stats and the team suffered as a result.
So how can he capture this performance and repeat it on a consistent basis? What was different about the Cotton Bowl? Opponents?? Time to prepare?? JJ seeing the light with Mett as his competition for 2011?? Wish I had the answer but his Cotton Bowl performance was impressive to say the least.

I think Crowton was either not running the offense, or told to cut all the spread and option stuff out.
Crowton ran the offense as always because we ran the option to the short side of the field. I think a light went off in his head or LM told him "stop fricking putting them five wide." We went back to the ground an pound, mix some play action on second an spread on third(if needed). Looked a lot like 2007.

Are you going to argue that 4.6 is the average forty time for a college QB? Because that's the discussion we're having.

4.6 in North South speed.
Hes pretty fast for a QB but not shifty
Big difference

A number of mediocre QB's have looked good against Big 12 defenses. Heisman winner Jason White comes to mind. JJ is mediocre at best.

Right. I said that earlier. He's got good straight-line speed but doesn't move horizontally as well.

So you think Jason White was a mediocre college QB?
Laughable.

JJ is very inaccurate as a passer. He made some nice throws but as usuall he missed several wide open receivers.

Yea, his skills were mediocre.

Apparently every NFL GM thought he was mediocre as well. That's the reson he went undrafted and wakes up each morning to go to work instead of playing on Sundays.

The worst part is that we have one of the best running QB's playing reciever because he wasn't given a chance at QB.
this is what i have been thinking all year also. wonder what next year will bring.
