My statement was middle of pack secw. 3 out of 7 qualifies as that,
But you absolutely refuse to tell us what metric you are using to make the LSU defense third in the west.

In regulation, LSU finished 2nd in the sec West in scoring points, ahead of 5 teams.

Points without yards means shite offense with good field position.
Posted on 12/8/18 at 11:49 am to Tillmanscorner
Yes and also those powerhouse defenses of Arkansas, Ole Miss, A&M.

Total defense. #29. State was #3, Bama #9. Miami was ranked #2. Ga was ranked #13. Florida was ranked ahead of us as well.

No...they finished around 28th or 29th in ypp. Doesn't matter, good, not elite, as you said. My statement was middle of pack secw. 3 out of 7 qualifies as that, especially given 3AA and top paid DC. State finished #3.
One point I'd like to make:
Defensive stats like total yards, avg per game, avg per play, etc, are nice, but do not forget to talk about takeaways.
LSU is tied for 19th in the country in takeaways, with 23 total. (16ints, 7 fumbles)
LSU is 2nd in the SEC, behind Florida, which had 24.
Alabama is tied for 32nd with 21.

A&M scores more than us unless you found 1 very specific grouping of statistics.

There it is.
So, since total defense is how we are determining how good the defense is, then we use total offense to determine how good the offense is right? That seems very fair.
What was LSU ranked in total offense? 77th. That would be good enough for 5th in the west.
Now you should understand why people jumped all over your thread

This, and points scored directly off of turnovers, are something that S&P+ takes in to account. Along with the rating of offenses faced.
There's a reason this dipshit keeps ignoring the 14th ranked defense, and 53rd ranked offense, according to S&P+. It's because it completely destroys his entire argument.

No we use scoring against SEC West opponents in regulation
LSU is second in the SEC W if you only look at those games.
So clearly an amazing offense.
It’s not like Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miss state A&M and Auburn could all also have shorty offenses.

Damn. This poor bastard has been drawn and quartered ITT.

It’s a lot easier to just admit the offense sucks than it is to come up with these weird distorted stats
Posted on 12/8/18 at 11:58 am to Tillmanscorner
No offense but this is laughable. You realize that by taking out the Bama game (our worst game) you are also taking out some of the other teams best games (Arkansas for instance).
Also, every other team on that list put up points on Bama (except State who in reality did but had it taken away).

Right. We get to pick and choose which stats we want to use to fit our narrative. When you can't find them, you remove games to make them fit.
Then, we say LSU had the third best defense in the SECW, and that is FACT. Based on total defense.

And these people really can't understand why they are called out on their stupidity. It's amazing.

I never said lsu had a bad defense. They were good. Not great. Had a hard time getting teams off the field at critical points, sometimes. It happens.

Tiger Ree, you got totally owned in this thread by multiple people. Follow Ben's lead and run with your tail tucked between your legs. I suppose you already tried that by getting yourself banned, but it hasn't worked yet. Try harder, or quietly exit.

I read where some of you were bashing the offense for the entire season,
103rd in the country. That pretty much bashes itself. It doesn’t need help in that department.

The fact is you should start your own thread to discuss your twisted numbers.
At least you admit that these are twisted numbers. That’s a step in the right direction.

I'm willing to assume good faith from the OP.
The Alabama game happened. LSU got shutout at home against Alabama. You can remove it from the 'analysis,' but the game happened, in reality.
Bama is the benchmark for the SEC. Miles was fired, in part, IMO, because he'd lost 5 straight to Alabama. Orgeron has lost three games to Alabama. Two of them were home shutouts.
I want LSU to win championships. The defense can hold its own against Alabama, but the offense cannot. It does not matter if LSU can beat Ole Miss or Arkansas: they beat those teams with Les Miles' offense.
Alabama is what matters. To be the best, you must beat the best. If the LSU offense isn't good enough to beat the one team they need to get through to win the SEC West / SEC / CFP ... then the offense isn't good enough, is it?
^ This argument is wholly independent of the statistical analysis, anyway. Who cares if they're #5 in the SEC against every other team if they get blanked to Alabama? That game matters. LSU does not accomplish its goals until it can beat Alabama.

Ben this rb10 is part of the army. In fact, I know 100% that usernames are shared for the purpose of stirring the pot. You ever notice you have posters with usernames that have been on here 10 years or more, completely sound like 20 year old kids? It's true. Know it for fact. May even get banned for saying it, but it's actually pretty sickening what is allowed on here in terms of shitting on the coaches and program. I know chicken personally...he couldn't care less about lsu...all about chicken....not a very good person. This is 100% fact. FYI, Sammy and 1988 aren't in the army. Just miserable individuals. I know Sammy as well...rum graduate. Just as miserable in real life
I don't doubt any of this and it would certainly explain a lot.
