Well the reality is he was hired in this era, to compete with this crop of contenders. We wanted our next head coach to be able to do that. If he can't bring LSU to NC competitor status then that's a failure.
No one would call a 1 loss season w/o a national championship a failure, because we'd be in the mix. That's all we're asking, be in the mix. If he can't do it this season I think it's fair to wonder if he ever will because everything lines up for him to succeed.

Can you remember a time when "talent" excuse was ever given to Miles? Even in 2014 when we had all of 4 players drafted and had nothing but freshman and 1st year starters on offense there was never an excuse accepted.
