NY Times - "For L.S.U., a Lot of Love in Polls, Not So Much in Playoff Rankings"

For L.S.U., a Lot of Love in Polls, Not So Much in Playoff Rankings
A win over Georgia this weekend should be a strong argument for making the Tigers the playoff’s top seed, ahead of Ohio State, but will the committee see things that way?
By Billy Witz
Dec. 3, 2019
Once upon a time, there would be little argument about whether a team that blew through the S.E.C. unbeaten should be anointed as the best in the country. But Louisiana State may have to do more than just dispatch Georgia in the S.E.C. championship game on Saturday night to earn the top seed in the College Football Playoff.
It may have to stack the selection committee with writers and coaches.
Those who have voted in the weekly polls again have L.S.U. atop the rankings by a wide margin over Ohio State — at least two-to-one in first-place votes in The Associated Press writers’ poll and the USA Today coaches’ poll.
But when the rankings that matter were released on Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff selection committee had the Buckeyes in front for the second consecutive week, followed by L.S.U., Clemson and Georgia.

frick the failing NY Times and frick the dishonest bullshite committee.
Seriously, frick them. I hope they keep fricking us over. We're going to wreck Clemson and crybaby arse Dabo.
There's a reason he's crying about not being the number one seed too, he knows LSU is going to destroy his tranny arse quarterback and his ACC soft team.

NYT is not failing.
Just because someone says so in a hissy fit doesn’t make it reality.
But, by all means, make ANOTHER topic polluted by a political angle.

Ohio State gets the nod because of their win over Cincinnati at home.
Sounds legit.

Do you need any further proof that the Playoff committee is a sham.
It’s been said before, but needs to be said again. The Playoff Committee decided a while back that Ohio State will be the #1 team regardless of what happens on the field, and they arranged their rankings accordingly to achieve this goal.
It’s as simple as that.

Why are they using periods with acronyms?

Because repeated massive staff cuts and YOY Income decrease of 34% (September reported financials) is a sign of success?
Then add on subscriptions dropping like an anchor in a harbor and what else is it but failing.
But let me guess they are successful because their stock price has risen some this year? Of course much less than the overall market which means FAILURE.

New York Times is FAILING! They continue to lose readers and advertising.....FACT!

Wait. When the quality wins thing wasn’t in their favor last week, this guy said “more complete team” was the reason. Now that LSU eviscerated that talking point, he switches gears to something else. What a crock of shite.

When you control the narrative, the narrative can be whatever you want it to be.
And yes, you clearly pointed out their hypocrisy.

These last two cfp rankings are not good for A&M or UGA.
Defense came out stingy as hell against the ags and they’re gonna come out guns blazing against UGA.
I trust Coach O, we’ll be deserving of that #1 spot after this weekend.

The question isn't whether LSU will be deserving. The AP and Coaches clearly think they already are.
It's whether the committee will choose to acknowledge that. Of that, we're not so sure.

I believe that the committee has been waiting for the SECCG to put us back at number one should we win. At that point we will CLEARLY have a stronger resume. Might be just wishful thinking. I would have a hard time seeing them not be congruent with the AP and coaches poll at the end of the season for the top spot.

People only care about AP and Coaches before week 8/9, after that they clearly don’t matter at all.
I’m talking about an even more motivated LSU team going into these last two weeks who can really shine and put away an opponent in the biggest conference championship of the year. Wisconsin is playing for revenge, they’ve seen OSU once already. I expect that one to be a closer game than we all think it will.

Well I think we already know what they want but let’s see their reasoning after we beat Georgia. If we beat Georgia another highly ranked team no way we shouldn’t be number one in the playoff rankings.
