That said, Nuss was damn good for most of the game. Look at his stats, other than the interception in the last few seconds of the game, there's nothing to be negative about.

Agree in the 1st half. Disagree about the 2nd half. He was 1 read and check down in the 2nd half. He was playing like he was afraid to get hit and was under constant pressure, when in reality the pass protection was as good as could be. Nuss was sacked 0 times and only pressured 6 times all game. He also refused to look at the middle of their field even when it was open due to the defensive sets.

Passing chart for Nuss. He NEEDS to push the ball down field for this offense to click.

Eta: 2nd half passing chart. Woof. 0 completions 10+ yards down field in the middle or right side of the field.

Much of the blame for Nuss’s lack of experience is Kelly’s fault because he didn’t allow Nuss to play very much last year and wouldn’t put him in during critical situations

So LSU should have taken out the heisman winner in critical situations to get Nuss some playing time?

He played well. He also needs to be willing to stand firm in the pocket more. He backpedaled on a few throws where it seemed he had more time to deliver.

As the season progressed LSU wasn’t going to play in the playoffs. So now LSU prefers to give an individual player more accolades than giving next year’s starter at QB more valuable experience.

So what you are saying is that you didn't see the difference in the play calling once LSU went up 17-13. That, and the fact we threw 10 times less in the second half, despite two more possessions. You saw something a lot different than most of us then.

There will be a quick progression by him imo, the more he plays and gets comfortable. He has the tools and already has the ability to progress through reads. I believe you will see him much more comfortable than he was on his first regular season start in a prime time matchup.

So you don’t think Nuss getting more experience would have helped him prepare for this year? Look at JD in his first yr vs last year, same as Burrow.

JD was a 3 year starter at ASU, so that dog don’t hunt.

Your assertion that LSU should have benched their starting QB in critical situations to get the backup playing time in the hopes that he’s the starting the following year is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read on this site. The only thing dumber is actually blaming Kelly for not doing it.

Let that sink in.

not saying he isn't ready but him making his first start is not an excuse. He has been here for four years.

And he was the highlight of the game.

He has been the starter for one game. He was better than any of the negatigers predicted.

Which group or individual played/graded better?

Nuss is fine. I hope he gets tons of experience this year and comes back in 2025 with a better team and can really dominate.
