agreed. he is not slow at all.

is he same speed as burrow? flynn? mauck? all could run.

you cannot run zone read and not have the Qb run when the QB run read is there. we are basically running HB dives pretending its a zone read.

eventually the DE will crash each time playing the HB dive to force Nuss to keep and go off tackle.

He made that great third down throw rolling to his left.

Nuss looked like Burrow out there slinging it around last night. He’s going to be elite.

That boy had the yips pretty bad at times and when taking water he was shaking like a leaf.

Coaches have to put him in better situations to have more success.

Too much bravado from particular players and not enough follow through.

Exactly. If you watch his HS film and even some of the UGA game. His ability to create on the move is what makes him good.

Keeping him in the pocket all the time is the equivalent of making Burrow play under center like he did his 1st season at LSU. Tailor your offense to the players not the other way around.

I mean there is a possibility that USC is pretty good. Have we not considered that?

That being said, USC made adjustments in the second half. We didn’t. USC took away the run game. All that boasting by the O-Line about running the ball. Outside of Emory coming in and having some success we never truly established the run.

Nuss is fine. He’s going thru his progressions and making completions. We ran a vanilla offense and he executed well. I thought Thomas was a huge surprise for a guys that’s supposed to be your return man. We need to find ways to get the ball in his hands.

We never really tried to push the ball down field. The play calling in the second half when we had two drives with the lead to put the game away was arse. There’s no excuse.

On the bright side, I thought the defense as a whole was a much improved unit and likely is going to have a solid year. There are still issues. But again, they played well and came up with some stops when we desperately needed them. I still think there are gaping holes at CB. At this point play a freshman over Sage Ryan. He almost singlehandedly gave USC the lead. You still have issues at safety. Guys were routinely out of position not covering their zones which lead to big gains.
