A couple of months ago while working in Denver, I got the chance to meet Matt Mauck. He is a great ambassador for LSU football. He had nothing but great things to say about the young men who the team has selected to wear his number. I really don't understand so-called fans who have bad things to say about something as positive as this honor.
It means a lot to the players and it stands for leadership and doing things the right way!!!!!

Because it is one of the highest honors for a team that I devote a great deal of time and money on.

Team performance and team wins is all I care about. Its time the athletic department stop this tradition. There are several men that young players will look to next year. Singling out just one is a slap in the face to all the men that have carried themselves with ultimate respect and leadership on the team.
You seem pretty out of touch

Are team MVPs a slap in the face to everyone that works hard?
You say you only care about team wins and performance but think its inappropriate to have them compete for something internally. Doesn't make any sense. I mean have you ever been part of a sports team? This kind of thing builds camaraderie and respect, and you don't just win games without any of that.

Bunch of hard asses in here who "dont give a shite" about something that's very important to the team.
Someone like Dillon Gordon fits the mold. Senior who's not a flashy guy who has always just gone to work. On defense I'd say someone like Deion Jones. Possibly Hunter.

Exactly. This isn't something that is going to stop us from winning. Its actually something to rally around when the team isn't winning. Keeps every season fresh with passing the torch.
And I agree I think it will either be Thomas or Gordon

Won't switch. 33 is a family number I think.

Vadal, and it's not even a contest.

Not to mention it's not going to a sophomore

I don't think an OL is going to wear #18.

Admins: make this a sticky. We don't need 1000 of these before spring ball

Danielle Hunter, or Dillon Gordon

Isn't the 18 wearer almost always a Senior?
If that's the case, that only leaves
Lamar Louis
Ronnie Feist
Jalen Mills (if he stays)
Jamie Keehn
Deion Jones
Quinton Thomas
Danielle Hunter (if he stays)
Dillon Gordon
There's obviously more JR's on the roster, but these are the only non-offensive linemen who actually see the field.
My personal favorite option....
Braxton Miller
I can dream, right?
