I was asked today, but was not 100%. I assume the stadium roof will be closed for the game. Especially since it is at night. Anyone know?

NRG Stadium Roof Policy

It'll be closed if it's above 80F.

If they left the roof open no fan would ever attend an opening kickoff game in Houston ever again. Way too hot with chance of rain to consider leaving it open. People would be passing out.

Do they still have their policy of natural grass for Texans games and turf for college games? I've heard that AstroTurf they use is pretty terrible.

Yes. The Texans use grass, but college games use turf. Hope the turf doesn't cause injuries.

How do they keep up the real grass if they are switching it in and out?

I guess not a lot of college teams play there?

The Astro Turf company makes field turf too so technically they could be using Astro turf boss

Yeah, my understanding is that they use a type of turf made by the AstroTurf company.

The stadium hosts two to three college football games per season.

The grass grows outside the stadium in a parking lot and is transported in for Texans games.

They grass in on pallets that can be moved in and out of the stadium, depending on the setup needed.
