Absolutely Simmons can play center .

Not the smartest move. You'd most likely have Jarell play center with his size and just use a bunch of talented forwards. Hornsby would probably be the odd man out with elbert getting some solid minutes. Would be one of the deepest squads LSU basketball has ever had.

If anybody is playing center it's going to be Mickey

Martin may be taller, but he's not anywhere near the same quality rim protector

We'd be hella small inside though. Honestly the scenerio I see, if Martin and Mickey coming back is either Simmons coming off the bench or Simmons playing SG. Mickey just isn't a center, and Martin definately isn't a center.

Of course we could just go super small and run people out of the gym. Which would be pretty fun.

Probably right. No true center is okay in today's game, though.

Just wanna post this. We only have two commits in this class yet we are number 15...

Isnt worth really discussing. The chances of both guys returning is very small.

To start
1 - Gray
2 - Blakeney or Hornsby
3 - Simmons
4 - Martin (I think Mickey goes pro.)
5 - Big El

After 5 minutes
Gray, Blakeney, Quarterman (I think his best position is probably 3 anyways), Simmons, Martin.

ETA. Wow, this team is going to be nasty next year. The only weakness next year might be that we'll be a little bit light down low, but we'll more than make up for that in the overall length of this team.

I think this year we'll lose probably Mickey or Martin to the pros, Odo to graduation, and I expect Malone to transfer since he can't get any playing time.

Gray
Blakeney
Simmons
Martin
Mickey

TQ
Hornsby/Patterson
Epps
Bridgewater/Malone
Robinson

Now thats what I call depth!

Would be one hell of a team to watch!!

If Martin and/or Mickey come back, we have plenty of combinations we can use between those 2 and Simmons/Robinson. It helps that all of those guys are really versatile. We will be fine.

You know that Johnny Jones is going to "start" a center. Exactly like he's doing with Odo and Big El this year.

LSU should be ok with both of them going, but if one or two comeback, LSU would be a top ten team easily. Patterson is improving at a faster rate than TQ did last year(a unique player) and Hornsby is a tough competent player. If LSU can get some growth from a big, the sky is the limit. Possibility of a very deep very good, basketball power.

You people do realize that Ben Simmons is 6"10 right, lol. It's college basketball, not the nba. Ben and Mickey will play on the blocks and be the best frontcourt in college basketball. Martin will most likely go into the draft. But his production will be replaced by Blakeney and Lyle. The starting lineup will probably be Gray, Blakeney, Lyle, Mickey and Simmons. That is extremely salty and worthy of any basketball program in the country to say the least. Johnny and DP puttin in serious work.
