Both penalties should have been assessed! Grabbibg the face mask is now always a 15 yard personal foul penalty! LSU should have gained 10 yards on the penalties, and it should have been a first down!

Personal fouls are often called when the play is dead and the clock is stopped. The ref threw the flag. It should not have been ignored!

if you allow the play to go on it should be offsetting penalties.

the first flag thrown on the play was the face mask. there was no whistle.

So, does anyone with a decent football acumen know exactly why the false start negated LSU gaining penalty yardage on the face mask?

Is facemask not a personal foul, even on a dead ball? Or, are there 2 types if dead ball facemasks- one subtle and one flagrant? Not being a smartass, just wondering what the rule is. I guarantee that if you subtly grab tebow's facemask during a dead ball it will cost you 15 yards.
