This really isnt a hard concept so listen closely....

He wanted KG to pitch in a must win game or a close out game

I'd do the exact same thing. Nola is going to need to get a win sometime. I'd rather KG with the pressure of the game

He also pitched 250+ pitches last weekend. He certainly could use an extra day. KG should have started today. This game certainly isn't over in the 2nd inning, but I completely disagree with starting Nola, even if he hadn't given up any runs yet

You want your best against their best.

To say anything else is dumb

It isn't stupid to start him today for the sure win then take your chances against their ace tomorrow. Not only would you go up 1-0 putting SB in a corner, you also give KG a full week to rest before the CWS.

And if Gausman loses, you're putting a true freshman against their ace with the season on the line.

I'd rather have my ace against their ace to either send me to Omaha, or extend my season

SB not starting their ace is a sign of disrespect to LSU.

I'd rather win the first game so you then have two to win one, but to each his own.

Just because Gausman is on the mound isn't a guaranteed win, like everyone seems to think in this thread.

It's baseball, there's no such things as guarantees.

This. But I'll never be convinced that KG shouldn't have started today

+1 You always start your ace the first game of a three game series. Make Stony Brook have to win two straight elimination games to advance. The way it's looking we're gonna be deep in our bullpen win or lose this game.

Who cares. You make the best decisions on the info you know.

1. It's still the 3rd inning and only 3 runs
2. Thankfully baseball is not all or nothing. We could lose by 50 today and still have a chance.
3. Settle the frick down

There may be no such thing as a guarantee, but KG against SB without their ace is about as close as it gets for us.
