I am trying to actually discuss football instead of who should be our QB after playing against NW. St. I gave people on this board too much credit thinking they would actually be able to discuss anything else. No where in my post did i say we should have gone into the "secret" playbook. Have you seen any intermediate routes this year? What is the benefit of running the ball with one wr inviting 8-10 guys in the box? I always think of injuries in these rent a wins and personally would rather spread a defense out than have our rb's get pounded every carry. End of the game we could have run 3 wides just to spread the d out but we didn't.
Its amazing IRL everyone agrees with this...but of course I know them and i also know they know football. So go back to discussing who should be the QB after playing NW

Did you see their linebackers today? They're so bad that stacking the box will actually help LSU.

Secondly we probably have the worst linebacker corp in the sec... Maye is slow to react and move... Bohana can't wrap up... Lawrence takes himself out of, position on a ton of plays....not saying they aren't talented but inexperienced... Which shows we can't stop the run on a regular basis especially the outside.. Memphis did it and auburn made a, living out there...

Games are not the time to "work" on possible shortcomings regardless of the opponent. They have days set aside for this kind of work. It's called practice.
maybe not in the nfl but in these cupcake glorified scrimmages you should.....
these coaches don't believe in the intermediate passing game; they think the run game, screens and some bombs willl be a winning strategy as long as we "try harder"
its never a strategy, or time management, or personnel issue, its always just 'playing better" or "trying harder"

Hey TopWater when you bring home an ice chest of 3,4,and 5 pound Specs and your wife questions your fishing abilities because you used Pogey's instead of artificial bait do you really care.

I wouldn't give a frick what anybody said. I think my post was misunderstood because no one i talked to had the opinions posted in response to my post. We all had hoped JL would get more work with wr's in an actual game setting (even against a rent a win).

Topwater, I understand what you're saying but to me, they did work on the intermediate passing game.
Mett played for the entire second half. I noticed one drive where all he did was pass. Just to get the kid some reps in a game.
I had a feeling this would be a very vanilla game.

And that wasn't the issue. I just thought why not run out of some 3 wide sets with the defense spread out. To me when you are as vanilla as we were tonite all it does is allow more defenders to get shots on the rb's.
If we get behind in a game and have to pass we may regret not working on it more while we had the chance.

Vanilla tonight = Good!

I know we were playing NW St. but I thought we could have worked more on our intermediate passing game than focusing on wr screens and a few long balls. Crossing routes and post patterns would be nice to see IMO.
And it seemed with the running game we ran a lot of 1 wr formations inviting even more men in the box. I would have liked to see more 2-3 wr formations spreading the defense out while running the ball instead of just grinding out 3-4 yard runs with 8+ men in the box.
Post Less.

I like seeing us run the ball.

So we can probably chalk up that beaut of a take of yours not only to an acute lack of critical thinking skills, but logic problems, as well.
Because I hate to point this out to a MENSA member like yourself, but I'm typing. So are you, NachBro AlbergamBro.
We let Lee chunk it deep, throw it to the Tight End, and throw a couple of outs.
We showed deep oppo-hash out routes, stacked WR bubble screens, at least half a dozen new formations, and even ran Mett on a little option for that arse.
We rolled all of this out for Northwestern fricking State. An FCS program that is garbage. With a nice little run of MSU on Thursday at Starkville, then at Morgantown to face the best offensive playcaller we'll face all year (and a good DC in Castille), and then Florida here at home.
Yet you're here talking shite like your favorite book is "The Tony Franklin System".
Your original sentiment is correct, though. One of us should probably stop spouting off via keyboarding. There's this saying that keeps running through my mind.
Something about it being better to remain a silent fool than to open one's mouth, thereby removing all doubt. In this case, you just keep typing, though, so there's now way around you spewing this foolishness.
But, me continuing any attempt at engaging you in an intelligent discussion is just as Foolish as the mental flatulence you floated into our collective mental airspace earlier. So I'll leave you to the last word. I hope you bring it just like the other hard-hitting, quality posting you've done in this thread already.
I know I could use one more laugh.

You are too stupid to even understand my post jackass. Like so many others on here reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Any LSU fan who understands football would understand my point. Typically when teams schedule cupcakes they do it to work on certain areas. I guess based on tonite we needed work on our 2 TE set and blocking 9 guys in the box. I find you incredibly stupid if you don't understand throwing 10 passes does nothing to improve a passing game that most knowledgeable fans agree needs improvement.
Posted on 9/11/11 at 2:15 am to Topwater Trout
LSU threw 21 passes and completed 17 of them. LSU spent the entire 4th quarter trying to run out the clock so as not to spend unnecessary energy with a big game coming on Thursday. What more do you want?
Posted on 9/11/11 at 2:21 am to LSUGrad9295
Everyone is stupid but the OP. You have to try hard to find a negative with this game but the OP sure did.
Stop calling people "stupid". You are making the value of the word lessen.

I would have liked to have seen our starter work more on the passing game. I don't see how any LSU fan wouldn't want that.
And earlier someone posted about how bad MSU's linebackers looked against the run and we should invite them to stack the box to run all over them but what that poster didn't consider is Auburn runs out of the spread...not 2 TE one wr formations.
