If Eddie Smith can fix Gio’s propensity to swing and miss, that would be huge. Kid has the speed to make every ground ball a tough out and speed like that on the basepaths is such a weapon.

Any word on Abendorth's replacement? Is any walk on still with the team trying to take the 35th spot, or are they down 34 for good?

Lagarrigue threw in one of the scrimmages the other day. My guess is, if they're going to keep him on, we won't find out until right before the season starts. But if they're going to let him go, we could find out sooner.

Thanks. Don't see him listed on the roster on LSU sports.

It looks like with last nights scrimmage, we've seen one outing from every pitcher on the roster so far. As they start to get their second and third turns we can start to get a feel for how some of them are throwing and how the roles will shake out.

Yeah. Looks like all 16 guys have seen the mound. Just that alone is great news.

I feel the same way but wasn't saying it because I didn't want to feed into the ARM SORENESS crowd.

He is a walk-on that was allowed to practice with the team just before spring practice started. He was listed on a roster that was handed out at the Coaches Committee meeting the week before last.

Michael Lagarrigue, #57, is 5'11", 170 lbs. and played at Fountainebleau High School in Mandeville.

-third base coach too aggressive
-third base coach too passive
-third base coach should be fired

Here is my projection on how the roles may work out this season with the pitching staff. Some of these are educated guesses, some are gut feel.

Fri - Cole Henry
Sat - Landon Marceaux
Sun - AJ Labas

Mid Week - Eric Walker

Closer - Devin Fontenot

Multi Inning Relief:
Hilliard
Vietmeier
Beck
Kaminer

One inning or less relief:
Hill
Storz (High Leverage)
Costello (High Leverage)
Gunter (High Leverage)
George
Hasty

I'm most exited/anxious to see what Hill, Gunter, and Storz can do.

Hilliard is the most conservative long reliever from the bullpen whenever a starter can't get out of the 3rd or 4th.

Here's to hoping they all stay healthy *knocks on wood*.

Good god, the depth. If healthy, could this be our deepest bullpen under CPM?

What's exciting about this staff is that with so many returning guys the projection is based on guys taking the next step in their development rather than a lot of hopeful projections on talented freshmen we know nothing about.

ETA: Also, since arm soreness seemed to be a freshman issue, and we only have one freshman on the roster, we may not have to hear about that all season.

I personally don't see Hampton playing much this year

Yeah just the 23rd player overall rated by perfect game... and the 3rd player overall that actually made it to a campus... WTF are you talking about

He's 95 percentile and up on most hitting metrics like barrel spead. and 99th on speed categories obviously. If Hal Hughes can make the lineup this guy can as well. and if he doesnt and Hal sucks all year. I will give up on PM and LSU baseball until he's gone

I've been excited about the pitching staff too many times only to see injuries hamper us.

trying to keep my excitement this year in check has been difficult

Let’s just ignore the fact that the kid is coming in late due to football and the fact that he and Hughes play completely different positions.

Do I think he contributes this year? Absolutely but it’s not going to be from day 1. Does or should Hal Hughes’s performance have anything to do with how much playing time Hampton receives this season? No. And you’re a moron.
