A&M and Florida both scare me
Posted on 9/16/12 at 11:14 am to TriumphTiger
i said over the summer i thought that south carolina was going to be the next toughest game to bama. especially now without chris faulk.
florida is a gutsy team. going to be a tough one. auburn looks bad but weird things have happened in that game and that stadium. i think we good though.

Fla's d is good. In the swamp, that'll be tough. Ball control will be huge. I just don't think SC gets us at home and A&M will stay with us for a half.

I love how some people are counting at least one of those games as losses. I have yet to see anything that would lead me to believe that we drop one of those games. I understand that a few are away games. I just haven't seen anything to make me believe that they will beat us. Maybe I'm just optimistic. I don't know

Just curious. Do the same people predicting LSU loses one of those games think that Bama would lose one?

Who have we played though? Nobody yet. I don't expect Auburn to be a problem, but I think we'll really find out about this team against Florida at the Swamp on Oct 6. There's little reason to be anything but optimistic though.

is that a loss b/f Nov. 3rd won't kill our BCS title or SEC championship hopes.
Yes it will. We have a weak OOC schedule this year. If FL State and Oregon or Stanford go undefeated, no way a 1 loss LSU is getting it.
For the record, I'm predicting LSU to go 14-0.

Which of these 4 games is the biggest hurdle? I'd have to say Florida.
the Auburn game will be their 1a 'season maker'...expect a battle.
Florida has found a qb and runs the ball effectively...expect a battle.
Carolina...solid, if not spectacular, Clowney and Lattimore. expect a battle.
aggies...will be sky high, texas vs Louisiana mind-set (it's their alamo-we're santa ana)...expect a battle.
JMO.

I don't see us dropping any of these.
Auburn is shattered, and Chiz is not the guy to right that ship. Plus, Frazier is not the guy to call his team to get their crap together like Wilson. We may start slow, but the second half will be brutal for Aubie.
Florida is better than the credit they are receiving. Driskal had some sweet throws, and he's learning fast, but it will probably not be fast enough. I see the Chief scheming up something to give Driskal fits. But, Florida does have an odd habit of getting their act together in the second half. At the Swamp, this will be even worse. Florida knows that if they beat us, they will be seen to have returned to their old form. A win for us, but it will be closer in the second half than we will like. The rant will be busy. Probably the toughest of these four.
USCe will be hard to plan for. First, Spurrier is bat shite crazy, so who knows what he will come up with for the game. But, given Shaw's ongoing shoulder problems, he may not even be under center by then. UAB put Shaw in the dirt again, and he re-injured his shoulder. You don't think Mizzou and Georgia will not target him? Georgia will work him hard, so I doubt Shaw will be anywhere near 100% going into Tiger Stadium one week later. By that game, Shaw will probably be a game time decision at best. USCe will probably wind up leaning on Lattimore a lot...but it will not be enough.
A&M is an odd one. Their QB has the talent, but he does not seem to be fully comfortable under center...yet. He kind of has his own Jefferson moments. Plus, Florida aired it out on them. But by the time of the A&M game, Mett and his receivers will be working better together than Driskil as his guys did. My fear is that if we are perfect up to that point (which we will be), we may wind up looking ahead to November 3rd.
As for Alabama, if Saban had to call out the press before Western Kentucky, given their raping of Arkansas, and the love they will get from the press over the next few weeks, Saban will have to work to keep the tide's head from getting lost in the clouds...I hope.

I agree, of those games between now and Nov 3 I think we are going to lose one of them. Florida is my biggest concern.
