I am beginning to consider Johnson does something program wide that is akin to old school military boot camp. Purposefully tear everyone down before you build them up. Or in this case, purposefully put the team in a position to play poorly before improving.
It sounds ridiculous, and I have no idea how a tactic that fell out of favor twenty years ago which is primarily mental and enacted in a strictly controlled environment applies to college baseball, but Herb Brooks did it with US hockey team, and now, every year of Jay's tenure, like clockwork, we have these type games and/or stretches of play, even well into SEC play. And with the exception of his first year, we have inarguably been at our best heading into the post season or in the post season.
