I agree, Mr. Papagiorgio.

But currently this is the law and these are the rules to follow at LSU.
Yes they are. And we should do better. Both as a state and as a university. It’s a bullshite law that does more harm than good and the vast majority of college students are breaking this law/rule yet athletes get punished for it at a higher rate than any other section of the student body.
Charles should’ve done better and he should’ve followed the rules but the university should also not have dumbass rules that do nothing but hurt the university.

You just like to pick and choose what you call a drug like a good little baptist

I would rather him be on the field against Miss state. They usually have a good DLine. Arkansas I'm not to worried about this year

The posters here are clueless. College kids doing college kid stuff. The people here criticizing should put some pads on and go to one practice. Forget the off-season training.

That's not our decision or the players. Maybe you should organize a protest in front of the compliance office. Just get a permit. That's how the people you call "sheep" would do it.

Should they quit smoking weed for the sake of their future at LSU? Yes.
Good

This is all that matters.
Who knows how many times he's broken the rule?
Many of the regulations around student athletes suck, but they are there, you gotta stay in compliance.

I’m very confused as to people saying 6 games. If what another poster claim:
1st time - no time
2nd time - 1 game
3rd time - 4 game
4th time - 6 games
That means Charles would have fricked up twice from the end of last season. Because correct me if I’m wrong he didn’t miss 3 games last year... so if we are jumping to 6 games and if that is the case than he failed twice in 1 year. If I’m his teammates I would lose my fricking mind.
This is a speculation but for the people assuming 6 games. This is the only scenario that makes sense right?

I knew several contemporaries whose lives were heavily negatively affected by weed. If a few of those are prevented from ruining their lives during that vulnerable period of development, and the price is that a few dozen athletes get suspended from sports, it might be worth it. We get things a little out of perspective when we put so much emphasis on our team’s competitiveness, which really doesn’t matter in the scheme of things.

This is his third time.
4 games.
4 games.

Or the players could simply not violate rules.
Weed can be legal the world over, but if you fail a random at ANY company, you will be let go.
It’s simple. At some point, players just need to follow the policies in place.

It probably depends on the industry. If you are in oil and gas, construction, etc you are damn right you will get randomly tested for weed just like alcohol.
Now if you work at a grocery store sure you will get randomly tested for illegal drugs but they don't test randomly test for alcohol (at least not the last time I was involved with them) and I imagine weed gets treated the same way.
It's all a moot point anyway because there is no way weed is going to be legalized at the federal level anytime in the next 50 years at least. I'd imagine that as long as it is illegal at the federal level all major corporations will treat it as an illegal drug (except maybe mom and pop shops housed in states where it is legal).

Multiple bills are pending in congress to legalize and tax marijuana. I don't think it's implausible to think that it could pass at some point in the relatively near future.

If and when it is legalized knock yourself out. Until then you have a responsibility to your teammates to stay clean and be the on the field on Saturday.
