quote:Firstly, I agree in principle. And such things aren't soley for social reasons. It has a football reason. Guys that don't make meetings or film study on time cause the others to have to wait on him. One guy's actions wastes everybody else's time. And it is rude. And most importantly, it is a sign of selfishness which is the opposite of being a good teammate.
Why exactly don't you agree with it?
But what I'm disagreeing with is the punishment not fitting the crime. Sees quite harsh, even for a repeat offender. There's plenty of other punishments that can be meted out everything from stands, loss of reps, or having to apologize to all.
I get it- it's so widespread (apparently) and there's a distinct lack of "team", just a collection of players, that CBK is fighting. And attention to detail is important. You do the small things right, the big things take care of themselves. CBK has to send a message.
I just hate to see it for McGlothern and wish another punishment had been meted out (or Dwight had accepted it and not pushed back causing this result).
To be clear, I'm not disagreeing with the principle, the message, or need for such at all. I'm all in on that. Just the method in this particular case. However, it is what it is and there's a new sheriff in town. There were bound to be casualties. And there's bound to be more. I can't really fault CBK. Only wish it had turned out differently in Dwight's case.

Am I panicking if I’m already worried about next year CB depth?

No. It's going to be paper thin.
Flott and McGlothern were your starters.
Ryan will fight for nickel.
Raydarious jones has barely played.

Yes, and pretty good chance he’s gone for good
Couldn't have been for just 1 meeting.
I get kelly is trying to set the standard but McGlothern is 1 of only 2 sure things at corner.

So what do you want him to do? He was hired for a culture change. You want him to bend to allow the same cancerous culture just because of the depth chart. This is all about the long term fix. We can’t keep allowing the orgeron mentality in this program.

I doubt he's being kicked off the team just for being late. That's probably what started this, but it's surely escalated beyond that just a punctuality issue.

Classic Chalky
4:25 - glad we hired a disciplinarian.
4:40 - What is Kelly doing? I penciled him in on my 247 roster!!

I'm guessing Ed Orgeron had zero plan for next year if for some reason he wasn't fired.

I agree.
McGlothern just doesn't seem like that type of kid.
Has to be more to the story.

Probably got disciplined for being late and mouthed off to the wrong person, probably Flint.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened to palmer.
Cb is so damn thin. Even worse if flott leaves. If flott and mcglothern leave cb is in the danger zone.

Bro, get a life. You know what everyone is doing on this site. It's weird.

If the employees ( student athletes ) were actually doing their job ( going to class and passing ) then the employer wouldn't need to babysit. There is blame for the university because they aren't staying in their business about their grades but at the end of the day, the players are ultimately responsible for doing the work and passing the class.

Suspend him and let him know he’s hanging by a thread, but give him a way back to the team in Spring if he wants to prove himself. If not, he leaves via the portal and you took the high road. If he does, then it’s a big win if he gets with the program.

How do you know this hasn't already been part of the process?

That quickly?
Brian kelly just got here.
McGlothern doesn't even sound like a bad kid. Guess we will see.

How long do you think it takes?
You can't envision a scenario where he was late a couple of times and was suspended? I mean, that could have happened in a single day (late to morning S&C and then late to a position meeting).
Maybe he thought the suspension was bullshite and let the coaches know as much. Maybe this coaching staff doesn't tolerate dissention.
I mean, I like McGlothern, but I'm sure whatever rule he broke was clearly communicated (or shouldn't need to be communicated, like don't go off on the coaches) before anything escalated to him possibly being kicked off the team.

Could be they have been more focused on smoke signals than academic status.
