Towards the bottom. Y'all lost $9.7 million over the last 7 seasons. Your back to back championships cost your athletic dept $800K.

I would hardly call buying a brand new ballpark "lost money".

And Im pretty sure the cost of going to Omaha is something that cant be helped and Im sure we will be more than happy to pony up the dough this year as well.

Those championships made the Omaha money back just in Merchandise. I know I personally spent close to a grand on memorabilia.

Merchandise isn't factored into a yearly budget. Your baseball team isn't a revenue generating sport. It's ok, there are very few that actually turn a profit.

I disputed the "bleeding money" claim. That is hardly the case.

An average of $1.4 million per year over the last 7 years isn't bleeding money to you??

Not when most of that money went to a ball park. The Stadium is property with value..it is not "lost money". Cant figure out why that is so hard to understand.

If Carolina wanted to convert that stadium into cash, who is going to buy it? The only value is in the property that is in the middle of a Columbia industrial park. The stadium probably decreased the value of the property because of the cost to tear down the stadium for someone to build something useful. I can promise you, Carolina doesn't consider that stadium a real estate investment.

Texas is the pinnacle of college baseball, IMO.

That team LSU beat to win their last CWS title? That's cool everyone is entitled to their opinion even if it's wrong.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion....but NOT to their own REALITY...at this point, LSU is significantly ahead of TX !

If you buy a shirt is it lost money or is it paying for something that is neccessary? Does it have any resale value... no. Was it money that just fell out of your pocket..no. We chose to build and pay for the stadium..that is not bleeding money that is making a decision to invest in your program. Take all the stadium stuff out and we lost little to no money. Take the same data for the next 7 years and we will either make money or it will be a wash..nothing worse.

the ath dept has more money than lsu but that's about it. lsu can match or surpass texas in pretty much every other measureable. granted, texas has a higher ceiling than lsu with all that money available.

Having a stadium is an exepnse of running a program. That's a pretty big loss to take every year. They must not be worried about it. What's the avg attendence?

That isn't how you first described it. I don't disagree that Carolina needed the stadium to continue winning.

It sounds like the data is there. Carolina baseball is still losing money, just losing less of it. As easy as it may seem right now, they can't win the national title every year. So in a limited sample that included 2 national titles and 3 years in the new stadium, Carolina still bled +9M.

That said, I think Carolina is doing about as well as anyone, excluding LSU. What LSU does with baseball is pretty incredible. They sell over 40% more tickets than anyone at 2 to 3 times the price. Suites sell for 3 times what they do at Arkansas. They figured out how to sell beer to outside of a suite. They make a good money on parking, advertising, etc. LSU baseball is a machine.
