Did all you guys sleepwalk through the 90's and 2000's when all the pro teams did this to fund their new stadiums?

This isn't even the first time it's been done in Louisiana.

The only "change" is that it's filtering down to the college towns to pay for their teams.

When I was in Oxford every restaurant/bar had a "round up for the Grove Collective" at checkout. Had to be very careful not to give them money. Not a tax but pretty slippery. At first I thought it was a round up for kids or something.

Hotel taxes are how a lot of cities support their marquee attractions.

I’ve noticed in some cities the taxes are as much as the room fee.

So when do we get to vote on whether our taxes continue to go to these colleges or not? Louisiana has too many state schools anyway. Time to cut about half and use the money on the things this state actually needs.
