Not having to sit out a year prevented the "Play me or I walk"

Is there any way to put the toothpaste back in the tube? Legally, is it possible ?

Kelly, like Miles, rode their allegiance to a Sr. QB into the ground. Those days are over. Or, should be.
I get what you're saying but you get that reputation and you never get another good player again.

It's ruined the sport

No it hasn’t. And how can you justify making money off of people and not compensating them? Are you a communist?

It's ruined it for what it was.

The pay thing is tough no doubt.

Are we going to start paying middle schoolers for the ticket prices and concession stand money that is made when people come to see them?

Hypothetically speaking, what would happen if an athletes agent and a coach’s agent were the same? How would that impact a coach deciding to sit/bench a player? Or even talk about those players pre-season as if they were Heisman level?

I was thinking about that this weekend. I’m sure it’s not possible but I was wondering if there could be a rule that player agents could not represent coaches and vice versa. I don’t know if a restrictive rule like that would even be legal, but it could solve that aspect at least.

I think he recognized some key shortcomings in Nussmeier's game
The one's that allowed him to have the second greatest passing season in LSU history?

The problem this year isn't Nuss. It's the offensive line.

Nuss is getting pummeled and has to scrape himself off of the turf constantly.

I do agree that MVB would be better suited to play behind a poor line.

This is precisely why Saban retired and why he won’t be back. He said it himself. Coaches can no longer motivate a player to “improve their brand” in order to get paid because they are already getting paid.

I have no issue with NIL in and of itself. But the portal rule has to change. Only one transfer should be allowed. After that, if you transfer again, you sit out a year like before.

The players nowadays arent broke. The money allows them luxuries, and therefore distractions, that werent an option for players before. There are no consequences anymore for not living up. They can simply take their game elsewhere.

I think allowing only one transfer would have some affect on things like this.

I agree the portal element is a bigger issue than NIL. That said, would you support a salary cap in college football? Players can still get paid very well, but it may help in slowing down some of the transfers as well? What about putting more value on high school signing classes by having a predetermined max limit on transfers you can accept in a year?

Nussmeier was a basket case from TAMU until the Oklahoma game when Hilton decided to be ready to play.

He was ineffective against A&M , Florida and Alabama last year and I think it affected Kelly's evaluation of him.

Kelly and Nuss have the same agent

I agree, NIL has created the issue of players not used to playing with each other

you can't replicate game experience and cohesiveness when trying to manage a roster

oline development takes time and when you add two new players coming from a different system it is gonna look off at times

same thing with WR and QB play

on defense, players have to know your tendencies and what to expect

you don't have that year to year anymore

This is the first dinosaur way of thinking that needs to go away in the age of NIL. They are not kids anymore.
