Just because you have the right to do something, doesn't mean you should.

The benefits are negated when it comes to sports. Using a horse tranquilizer as an example of pain treatment proves you don’t know what you’re talking about. Yes weed is awesome if you don’t have anything active to do but you don’t allow it on a football team, that’s just silly pothead logic.

I agree. It should be a choice.
NFL is no longing suspending players for a positive test just a fine.
That's what colleges should do. NO suspensions. Document and educate.
I recall many pretty good tigers getting suspended for weed. Best defender in lsu history?

This isn’t true, the NFL has increased the amount of THC needed for a suspension and has shortened the testing periods from 4 months to 2 weeks, they’ve also decreased the number of random players tested. It’s relaxed the rules but it’s still in the policy.

Huh?

The NFL has also reduced penalties and will eliminate suspensions for players who test positive.

It's the opioids that are bad. They are addictive and have destroyed a lot of lives. They have been handed out like m and m's for years in locker rooms until recently.
Football is painful to play. Deion jones was having trouble getting up after every tackle against the bears on sunday. It was painful to watch.
This post was about louisiana keeping up with other states as far as marijuna legislation and nil.
Went sideways.

I don’t have an issue with decriminalization and legalization of marijuana. In fact, I’m for it. But I see what pushing that should be Woodward’s job. I really don’t follow that particular train of thought.

So weed is the only pain deterrent? If you’re ignorant enough to believe it has no harmful effects, especially athletically, you’re a lost cause and your logic isn’t actually logic, it’s silly child like justification.
Citation needed from credible source for your claim of the negative effects.

How does allowing something that unmistakably inhibits your athletic performance help anybody on a football team?
Lmao you have no clue what you're talking about. Several players have come out about the percentage of NFL players who are Marijuana users, the lowest I could find was 50%, the average is around 70%. The testing lasts 2 weeks and they know exactly when that testing period is. Many of them are high during games and it's not even a secret.

Thousands of people have played college football without drinking a beer. Should that apply too?

I could just see that going over well with college coach’s, sitting around token it up after practice.
Hey Coach O want a hit. Lol

Madking, You’re a square. Sounds like you have no grasp on the way things are trending around the country. Players smoking some weed is the least of our worries.
Football hurts. Football players smoke. It’s better than popping oxy every day.

quote:if ANYONE should be smoking weed, its football players at the highest levels, they wreck their bodies and this is the vastly superior choice to manage pain.
It's easy to play football without tokin weed. Thousands have done it, not hard.
not only that but the stress and spotlight we put these people under is insane. teenagers should not have countless strangers calling them worthless and telling them to move to another state for making a mistake in a game, they should not get attacked on TV and radio and in the press, we all know that and it still happens every hour of every day. The least we can do is let them chill the frick out for an hour.

We have been bitching for three days about how poorly our guys played being weed-sober... imagine what these guys will be like under routine recreational influence
You have no fricking idea what you’re talking about. I own multiple businesses, run 15 miles a week, lift heavy 5x a week, run stadiums and do HIIT at least 3x a week, and I smoke weed every single day.
But OHHH MYY GODDDD, just imagine the chaos it will create!!! Oh my god!!!! Here’s a newsflash for you and all the other sheltered people that post on this site: these players are using recreationally routinely, and so is your physician, your attorney, most of your children’s teachers, alot of small business owner’s that surround you, government officials, plenty of your friends that hide if from your ignorant arse, and even the law.

Decriminalization would be a huge boost to the state's tourism sector as well.
Laggards here...Too late for that party.
Personally, I don't want stoned people working for me or playing for me. Habitual pot smokers smoke incessantly and unless extremely high functioning or on the bipolar spectrum, are pretty much worthless.

To steer the conversation back to NIL; we should be like Nebraska, they're ahead of the curve. Small states where CFB is #1 stand to benefit the most imo

In Nebraska, State Sen. Megan Hunt of Omaha introduced LB 962 during the session. It would have given student-athletes NIL rights starting in 2023. The NCAA plans to vote on a plan by October that will be in effect no later than the 2021-22 academic year.
The University of Nebraska anticipated these reforms months ago.
NU Athletic Director Bill Moos told The World-Herald he vowed to “stay ahead of the curve.” The Huskers have already partnered with Opendorse to create the “Ready Now” program. Opendorse is a social media marketing company run by ex-Nebraska football players Blake Lawrence and Adi Kunalic. Nebraska is paying Opendorse $235,500 over the next year to implement its package for its student-athletes.
