What’s your thoughts on Jack M. PR instead of Stevenson? I thought that was odd.
I assume it was a defensive switch too in case the game stayed tied.

Oh c’mon. Accept a loss with a little class & tip your hat. Nicholls St just played a helluva game not gonna stop LSU from being a super regional host. Give some props people geez.

Yep and I’m going on that same play to win the game every single time. Nobody in the stadium thought that guy was making that play. Nobody
That’s the thing with pop flies, you have to wait and see. You’re an idiot and Jack Merrifield would also think so if he wasn’t busy being embarrassed

The Arizona guys, Collins and Cooper, just ain't cutting it.

Then why have a Coach on the field? I get 22 year olds should know better but Coaches are paid to make sure their head is in the situation.
Not running on a pop up or passing the runner ahead of you is fall ball practice shite. I can’t think of any coach I’ve ever had that had to tell runners not to run on a pop up

Nippolt would have made more sense to PR than Merrifield

Merrifield was being aggressive. The fact that ball was caught is pretty damn shocking and his aggressiveness wins that game 9/10 times.
I get the fact he should have saw it down, but it’s not the boneheaded play y’all keep acting like it is because of the result.

He was already playing.

When did he come in and for who?

Yeah, it was just a routine pop up.

Top 9th and for Jobert I believe.

He was already in the game at 3rd

And BTW - you can’t call it a GREAT PLAY AND THEN SAY THE RUNNER frickED UP
Yes, great play to make the catch. But the runner screwed up by making it a double play.
We tie the game on that catch because Frey would have scored when the second baseman dove backwards to the outfield to catch that ball.

Frey was not in a position to tag. Right after the catch, he was jogging back to third. He was 1/3 way down the baseline when the catch was made

That was Frey

Zero reason to be aggressive there. If he was the tying run? Maybe cut him a little slack. His run matters less in that moment than the runner ahead of him. He’s seen that kid make 2-3 range plays this game.
And no situational awareness to not even notice he’s passing his own guy. It’s one of the worst baserunning mistakes that I can remember

I’m not 100% sure of it…..regardless I think you chance that because if it isn’t a shite show at 3rd whoever was on third could have been halfway home before the fielder got off his arse.
Unless I saw it wrong, he wasn't tagging. But, it wouldn't have mattered because Merrifield closed his eyes and took off.

Regardless, Merrifield wouldn’t see any spot in the park besides end of the bench if it is up to me.
Yeah. His entire role is to be smart.
Milazzo's entire role is to play defense. Letting that ball go through his legs was another example of mentally not being up to the task.

Thank you. I couldn’t tell.

He’s getting double off there regardless of whether he passes Frey. He clearly didn’t read that ball off the bat at all and just took off assuming it was dropping into centerfield
