Odds actually do NOT favor an SEC team winning the game next year. 4 in a row from the same conference DEFIES odds, doesn't create future odds.
Dr Edge, You are treating the BCS like a truly random event. It is not. Each Div1 team does not have equal odds of going to the MCSNCG. Past success does increase odds here do to the subjective nature of API and coaches voting which goes directly inot the formula or via preseason ranking.

Ok, maybe my analogy was poor, but the OP actually suggested that the odds favor a SEC team winning the championship. Fact is that until 2006, only two SEC teams had played for a national title in the BCSNCG. It's not truly random, but to end up in the top 2 takes a lot of random events to turn out your way.
Either way, the past 4 years of SEC reign at the top really have no bearing on anything. Bama will be in the top 3 next year, probably #1 to start the year. UF will be a top 15 team without Tebow. And LSU will be in the top 20. Given the past, the SEC champ will always have a shot at the NCG, but they cannot have more than one loss, especially if 2010 ends up like 2009 with multiple undefeated teams.
So, in essence, you are right and the OP is still dumb.

Are LSU fans tired of living on the margin
yes they are. They want it easy breezy. Win every game by 30 while showing swagga and dominating college football like Hitler ran Germany.
LSU fans have lost their testicles when it comes to taking a punch and getting up. Bunch of glass jaw wussies is what we have become

Eh, 2004 Auburn would disagree, but I digress.
I think that we differ on what random truly is. Luck and random are not the same thing. Random would refer to all possible outcomes, planned or not. Luck would be having the plays go more in your teams favor than not.

I guarantee neither LSU nor UF will even win the SEC next year, let alone the NC.
Stick to predicting the fate of the Luckeyes.

I think Bama repeats as champs, FWIW.

So you take LSU/UF, I'll take the field. We'll see who's right.
ETA: FWIW, I was too harsh on my thoughts about the SEC (but I do think Bama is the clear favorites), but not the NC.

Should top tier programs have to make last minute goal line stands to win games against marginal opponents?
Yes, Alabama made two last minute stands to beat Tenn. by 2pts and went on to win NC.

The 2010-2011 National Championship will be the Ohio State buckeyes. Im sorry , next season the SEC will be weak, it will be down other than Alabama. One thing I can trust is that LSU will lose games to inferior talent. The Big Ten next conference is going to be the top conference next season. Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State although they have to reload.

Isnt Bama replacing the entire defense?
I know they are well coached and will be good, but losing experience cant make them better.

But looking back at the '07 LSU championship, one finds 7 (I think) successful 4th down conversions, teams lining up which allowed a 2 loss team in, etc. Are LSU fans tired of living on the margin? You say in your post that "lots of fluky went against LSU", but is that not just things averaging out? Can what is presented on the field by Miles be attributed to skill or luck?
The 2007 team was indeed fortunate, but the SEC was very strong that year which accounts for why so many games were tight, plus injuries took a toll.
But yeah, LSU fans are "tired of living on the margin" if you are referring to the inability dominate any SEC (and now OOC) teams. I understand the SEC is tough, and we cant expect to physically dominate the top teams, but LSU is struggling against the bottom feeders too. I dunno if that is solely a Miles trait but it gets more pronounced every year he's here.

So you are saying Vandy has a shot next year?

Yeah they have a shot. They shouldnt, but they do. LSU probably wins, but it wont be the arse kicking it should be.

Alabama will be the favorite to win the SEC next year, no doubt. But, three straight undefeated regular seasons is hard to fathom... I think Alabama's biggest threat next year is Auburn only because things seem to be unravelling at LSU and Miles is gonna have to do one helluva job keeping that thing together. Florida may very well take the East again next year, with talent alone.

The Times-Picayune's Peter Finney once said the perfect season for LSU fans would be: unbeaten, untied, unscored upon -- and fire the coach at the end of the season.
From one of Carl Dubois' posts. It pretty much sums it up how LSU fans feel about living on the margin.
As for who will be the next NC, there are just too many question marks. LSU has the talent, but they have to get their mojo back. Good line play on both sides does wonders for mojo.

your logic is amazing.
SEC has won the past few, therefore you expect the SEC to repeat,
but you dont expect Bama to repeat.
Why? What is the statistical basis of these speculations?
PAST PERFORMANCE IS NOT AN INDICATOR OF FUTURE GAINS.
READ THE PROSPECTUS.
And read, the Black Swan, by N N Taleb.
