Top tier, obvious candidates:

Scott Woodward

No secret who Woodward is, nor why he’d be toward the top of this list. Also has experience on the university admin side as vice chancellor from 2000-2004. Is close to Mark Emmert, etc. Look out F. King. Woodward might be your replacement. Not Alleva’s.

Herb Vincent

Herb is another well proven candidate, with both LSU ties, and SEC league office experience. Is well revered among LSU circles, and would get an overwhelming approval if hired. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to have someone at AD with SEC league office ties also.

Dan Radakovich

Former LSU athletic dept employee, who was obviously on his way to an AD spot somewhere during his stop here. Now, has Clemson soaring at impressive heights, dethroned Bama for the college football championship. Is still thought of in high regard around BR, and has been mentioned when the “one day when Alleva is gone” finally comes. Well, it’s here.

Hometown / current LSU Athletic Dept candidates

Verge Ausberry

Verge has proven himself as an “LSU man”. Former football star, well networked, has decent street savy. Also, being Mark Morial’s brother in law with JBE in the Guv’s mansion doesn’t hurt his chances.

Michael Bonnette

Another “LSU man”. Is well revered in LSU circles, and among folks in the know. Not sure if he’d want the job, even if it was offered. But, he would have the backing of key LSU admins and could certainly do the job well.

Dark horse, under the radar candidates

Josh Brooks

Not as well known among the average Tiger fan. But, certainly to people around the SEC, and with long standing LSU ties. Brooks worked his way up from being a football Equip manager under the late, great Jeff Boss, to being Jimbo Fisher’s asst. From there has made stops as the AD of Millsaps, special asst to the ULM Prez, and now the Deputy AD at Georgia.

Maybe he’s not the guy today, but someday.

Agreed he’s not the first or even second choice. But he’s proven himself to be highly competent. Not sure of his fundraising abilities as AD.

Although, not sure of Joe’s either. Hopefully he was better at fundraising than PR. I know Bonnette has him trumped there.

While it would certainly be entertaining, I don’t see Les having the skill set or attention span for this. Wish him well though.

Great guy who has an impressive resume. I know another former equipment manager who is now among the most popular LSU employees. His name rhymes with Will Wade. Their work ethic is crazy impressive.

Lots of rumor momentum here. Hope it's not an agent working for a raise, but we shall see. At this point, WHO REALLY CARES! ALLEVA OUT!

Word. Woodward will certainly come out of this better than he started. With more $$$ in his bank account. No matter where he lands.

FWIW, considering the source, but Tim Brando on Finebaum said that LSU has fallen so far out of favor with the league office for "many different embarrassing actions in the last decade" that hiring Vincent would go a long way in rebuilding LSU's image in the league office. Again, FWIW, Finebaum agreed and also used the word "embarrassing", adding that most of this is unknown to the public. Brando got into Woodward's connections with Skip as a positive for him but was pushing Vincent as the longshot.

Agreed. We’ve never really had anyone with even half way decent ties to the league office. Would help us perhaps not be as much as a step child in their eyes.
