Miss State stadium isn't that old it was built in the late 80's.

I think they claim the lineage of that field goes back to like 1957, but, yes, the bulk of the current existing concrete structure was put in place around '87 or so.

But my point was that I think they are using the existing stadium's footprint for the new stadium, which is something LSU could've done with the old Box. All LSU needed to do to keep the integrity of the old stadium in tact while improving it would be to extend the grandstands to the outfield walls, with new locker rooms, players lounge, and meeting rooms underneath. Then go back and clear out the concessions stands from the older grandstand part and re-do all that.

Actually, here's a better question: why is MSU willing to commit $40 million on a stadium while LSU was only willing to allocate like $31 million for one?

No! They weren't! They were figuratively on top of you. Had they been literally on top of you you wouldn't have been able to pitch.

The new box is cheap and generic looking, but old box was a pieced-together dump.

Six of one, half dozen of the other as far I'm concerned.

The old Alex Box Stadium had charm, like a ballpark should. The new Alex Box lacks that.

Actually, LSU was allocate for Construction Cost: $37.8 million for the NEW Alex Box... And (I don't see the 37.8 Million) It looks like 13 million ...

Yeah, I honestly feel, LSU drop the ball on the new Alex Box. Instead of building a Brick house they went with Straw.

A Low cost Budget design !!

If you look at what Miss St has in the works, wow we look like pee wee hermans playhouse compared to that.

I Can bearly SEE Alex Box letters on the front enterance.

Who designed Alex Box ?? Bob the Builder ????

Updates at Alex Box needs to be Revisited

And how did they improve upon this exactly? The new Box is like 99.9% metal bleachers...and no berm.

Well I would like to see a burm in the outfield, a place where we could tail gate and have BBQ pits and have a good time during the game, you know have a baseball feel, just not pay ur money sit down and wait for somehtjing to happen to cheer. We really need to get corporate out of the grandstand and put real fans there so we can get loud and crazy and support our team to a win. I sat both places and the reasons people dont get loud in the outfield, who the hell is Gona hear them nobody, maybe the left fielder or right fielder yea that's going to do some good. It's a nice stadium don't get me wrong, just not very fan friendly. They need to move the score board and put stands all the way around the stadium or a burm connecting both bleacher sections, just my opinion, but either way I'm going to support my Tigers and will be there to chear them on win or lose.

Hate to say it but Ole Miss has the perfect outfield set up. State has a great atmosphere even though it looks trashy but that goes to show that they actually care about the fan experience. It just looks fun. The Box doesn't look fun but hell the tickets are sold so.

Where's the $40mm it took to build the new one? I look at it and don't see $40mm

Hopefully improvements are made soon, if not LSU will fall behind and quick. After watching the regionals and super regionals the past two weekends there are already stadiums as nice and fan friendly already as the Box.

Well to be Honest, the Box had a Cheap budget design to it when it was created (New) Now it has a dated feel to it, because it was Terribly constructed and lacked a baseball feel.

Isn't that just what the modernists were claiming a few short years ago when they were demanding that a new stadium be built? That LSU was going to lose recruits without a new stadium?

Now millions of dollars later the new Box is already in the process of dropping to third or even fourth best stadium in the SEC West.

Yes, A New Alex Box was a Good call, But the Design of the new Stadium is Very Bad !! It looks like a Outlet Mall/Storage Units .... It's Fan Friendly to 25% of it's fans. The rest ... O'well " you just better BUY your Tickets or You will Lose your Seats".

In my opinion, LSU has lost touch with it's Fans. More worried about Extreme Profits and OVER the top Catering to student athletes. It's time to think about Fan comfort and Friendly Stadium environments. Get more in tuned with Improving the general fans experience and quit taking us Fans for grant.

Like it or not the fans don't win games. Getting the most talented student athletes and best coaches win games. You need the extreme profits and to cater to student athletes to get those things.

Bull shite. Fans carry teams nearly as often as teams carry fans, especially in baseball which is a game with a tremendous mental and momentum based component.

Much like the PMAC, the New Box just doesn't have a setup which promotes it being loud, very different from the grandstand in the old box where I spent so many springtime afternoons as a child.

The old box was a dump, but it had its charms. I don't think the new box is unsalvageable, but it would take a commitment to crafting a master plan to get it to where it needs to be.

Some changes i'd like to see over the next 20 years:
Chairbacks in all seating areas
Sidelines and outfield stands that match one-another in design and height
Alcohol sales in all areas
A berm where anyone can come with an ice chest of anything, smoke, or whatever for $5.
Get the bullpens out of foul territory to where they can't be seen so that the stands along the baselines can be moved in closer to the field.
Eventual expansion of the grandstand and skyboxes to line the entire right and left field lines.

You must watch the games on TV, First of all, I've been to Several Games where the Fans had a Direct effect in BIG Wins for LSU, If they weren't into the games it was a L for the Tigers, Like it OR Not....

The point is "OVER the top Catering" ... They have upgraded every building associated with Football activates at LSU. *(Except Tiger Stadium) I'm Not saying it wasn't necessary, don't miss understand me. But It's time to upgrade the Fan experience.

*The Maintenance of Tiger Stadium is Sad. (Concourse , Restrooms , TV's , Seating , OVER priced Concessions.

Student Athletes =

They get a Scholarship (FREE) They eat FREE, They Get Tutoring FREE, They get All the LSU apparel they want FREE , Mom & Dad Gets FREE tickets, They get a FREE gym membership (LOL) They get FREE promotion of there athletic skills on TV.... I don't feel sorry for the Athletes at all, They got a Dream opportunity.

Yes, of course we want the Most talented athletes and Best coaches. I think LSU has More to offer those athletes then 99% of the programs out there today. LSU has Excellent Facilities. (Weight Rooms, dorms, Learning Centers, Practice field, ..)

We have spent many years improving everything for the LSU athletes , Its time to spend a year improving for the FANS, upgrading the Fans experiences at TS, Alex Box, and the PMAC.
