It’s rants myths and decency bias.
People forgot that 75% of the hard games we played used to all happen in October.

Even Chip Kelly said LSU was the biggest, fastest college team he had ever seen.
Chip must have missed Alabama games in 2011.

I wonder what Chip would have said if he would have had to pay Alabama twice in the same season?

If you think of what this program has been through since
the aTm game in 2015 and Alleva making the program look
like a circus, missing on Jimbo and Herman, we haven't
had time to be completely focused on the objective. All
of last year was about how O would do in his first year.
Now that he and the team have that behind them and have set leadership in place (which we lacked last year) this team is due for a breakout.
The young guys that were part of that team are now the
leaders and for sure have a chip on their shoulder. Ever
since they've heard nothing but doubt from
the media and have dealt with distraction after
distraction.
Whether you like him or not, I think these
guys want to play for O and they're out to prove everyone
wrong. Now with these older guys in place, our young talent, and a QB that I'm dang excited about, I think the
culture has changed and we'll get back to knocking
peoples teeth out!

Do you think all of that was worse than dealing with something like Hurricane Katrina? Haven't had time to be completely focused on the objective? I've heard it all now.

I think it's different when you're playing for your state and your families than a coach that may or may not get fired and have to hear about how bad LSU looks during the process. Then you change HC's in the middle of the season. I don't think it's worse and I never said it was but obviously these teams since 2015 have responded to adversity differently than '05 and '06.

Yep, that checks out.
You're 18 and you're in a battle. The dude you described is the dude I'm following.
You gotta give O respect for energy. Even if you don't like him.

or like 10 months ago.
Both Etling and Clapp said around draft time that O still does that stuff, and got especially rowdy before facing Ole Miss.
so a 58 year old man who still holds a grudge from a school who fired him for going 10-25 is the man responsible for the "culture change". forgive me if I am not jumping for joy in my office.

He certainly does.
I was legit worried for his safety after MSU and Troy. I was convinced at one point we'd never hear from him again.

the two weeks without him was seriously amazing.
he wont even respond to my posts anymore because of fear of being so thoroughly humiliated.

Miracle? It is an all-time LSU record. There were many other coordinators including two who were part of NC winning LSU teams and Slinger holds the record.
so he regressed from record setting offense in his 1st game to 0 points in his 4th.
that doesnt sound very promising. i want a guy who will improve the offense as the season goes on not going backwards.

You are saying that a 4-6 ULM that had beaten Grambling by 7 points the week before to get to 4 wins was also 7 ponts better than Alabama. That Bama team beat ULM 41-7 the year before. Were they more talented than Bama? AND the ULM loss was the 11th game of the season for the Tide.
and the first one after the OT slugfest with LSU the week before.
oh and the Alabama win was vacated , so that never happened ;)

I was just pointing out that no matter how you slice, dice or chop it LSU was more talented than UAB
are you sure that LSU was more talented than UAB in 2000? got some recruiting rankings or metrics to back that up?? LSU had just gone 3-9, UAB had a winning record.

Even though he was let go after the Auburn game? The one where the LSU players were celebrating the win only to find out that once again the clock had expired before their game winning touchdown
once again? please direct me to when this happened previously? TIA

I hope the culture is changing for the better. Definitely felt as though players had an entitled attitude, thinking just bc they signed with LSU they would be great on the field. Even some players left EARLY and not get drafted...still unbelievable.
I may be wrong, probably am, but I think that team meeting where D. Riley came back and ripped arse really set in with some players. Coaches can only do so much, it takes players pushing each other that make the biggest difference. I hate to bring the team up, but I think it goes with the OP. Years ago, N Saban was asked what was the biggest factor to their success. He mentioned in 08-09 (not sure of the year) that everything was rolling, so he thought. One day at team workouts a certain player, freshmen, was Half-assin the workout and few others started as well. Then J. Jones walked up, slapped one across the face and bitched the whole team out. In short, stated that's not what we do here. Saban said that set the tone for years and players really bought in to it. Time will tell if "culture" has changed and gotten back to 02-11 type mentality.

There was definitely some attitude problems with a few of the guys that left. I don't see that with this current team

Especially when you realize that LSU hasn't done better than six and two in the SEC but three times in the last 30 years.
After stumbling out the blocks would that disjointed disorganized offense and defense missing key players coach O managed to right the ship in a big way. He managed to prove last season that he is a good SEC coach. This will be a season to show whether he is elite or not

The SEC was a mess this year, and we went 3-2 OOC.
6-2 is great. that should get you something more than a Citrus Bowl birth.
