I think Alleva actually played the whole thing pretty well, with a couple of exceptions. One, he didn't count on word leaking out the way it did. That may or may not have been his fault, depending on where the leak actually originated. If the leak came from the AD's office, then that's a pretty major frickup but either way he should have had a contingency plan for it, which leads me to number two. Once word did leak out, he did nothing to try to downplay public opinion. Even if he had to lie and give Les the dreaded vote of confidence, that would have been better than silence. If something is written or said by the media and you don't deny it, everyone will assume it's true. Would have been much better to keep the cat in the bag (if possible) and then on Sunday rip the band-aid off quickly and cleanly.

Being quiet now is the best thing he's done. But it's too late for that.

Because Mark Emmert is now running the NCAA.

FKA needs to go before Alleva

That said, Alleva should have given Miles a vote of confidence a week and a half before the A&M game (even if it wasn't true).

Alexander should have been fired for his embarrassing theatrics during the budget battle.

I got info today that LSU was good to go until Jimbo raised the price to 7mil at the last minute and LSU balked.

Hopefully I'm not the only one who can see this has Sexton's fingerprints all over it. King was complicit with Jimbo's pricetag for two weeks and then just got cold feet at the end? Surrrrrrre.

Both King and Alleva got their asses handed to them at the negotiation table by the best in the biz, because they leaked every damn detail and spoonfed him leverage. I hold them both accountable.

If Jimbo gets something out of it, I could at least partially go along with that.

But if he stands pat at FSU with no raise and/or extension, it seems odd why either he or Sexton would bother.

As it stands right now, I'm keeping with my original theory that this was never close and never got past the "So, ummm, hypothetically, how much would this take?" stage with proxies.

Les was a lot closer to being out the door and Jimbo was a lot closer to being LSU's 7 million dollar man on the Rant than in reality.
