Yeah they don't even teach outfielders to catch with 2 hands past like 10u. Limits reach.

It reminds me of the Arkansas left fielder in last year's CWS.

Really? It wasn’t anywhere near the same thing. The arky LF misplayed it, lunged forward and the ball doinked off his shoulder.

Stanny lost one against Southern that literally popped out the top of his glove and people were like “2 hands!!!!”

No need at this level especially when in motion. You catch the ball in normal stride. Using 2 hands disrupts normal stride.

Catching the ball with two hands doesn’t hardly happens at any high level of baseball anymore.

This is akin to bitching about catchers being on a knee and the infield shift.

Casual takes - all of them.

It’s “fundamental” baseball in the same way that swinging “level” is fundamental - you teach it to little kids but it’s not necessary nor good strategy at any high level.

I'd rather catchers stop catching on one knee.

2 hands is proper and safest.....old traditional ways are scorned upon these days!, even if they are better!

PRACTICE, we talkin about PRACTICE! LOL

This is Al Bundy level stuff.

You know what, I think you’re right. Our catchers have trouble catching the ball too, we should tell them to catch with two hands as well.

Because if you can’t catch the ball with one hand at this level using 2 isnt going to help you. If you are tracking and positioning yourself correctly you shouldn’t even have to reach for the ball. Unless you physically can’t run underneath it.
