I’m convinced at this point the rant hates on Brennan just to hate on him. I think it’s just because he’s the successor to Joe Burrow

No this is a stupid statement.

A dude throws for 2 TDs and 1 pick and 265 yards and y’all think he’s the best thing since sliced bread. Meanwhile, a dude who clearly knows the entire offense with the total trust of the coaching staff and is off to a record breaking start and showed that he could and would play through pain and injury is worse. And the guy who threw for 265 barely started over the other true freshman. This tells me the scheme works. That we fixed our running game. That we improved on the line. That we figured out third down and red zone a bit. Putting those triumphs and prior failures on the qb is hilarious.

This is the play by play for the second and third drive for LSU. And you say the offense revolved around Myles?
the passing AND running game went through Finley to start. 5 plays where a RB carried the ball. His passing and his threat to run opened up the running game for the running backs later on. Also the reason for the lack of drops is because he hit the receivers with timing and in stride.
I’ve never seen so many people confuse stat padding because we are playing from behind as being better than consistent balance because he led the team to a dominant win

He looked great. You can’t deny that.
He did. Finley absolutely did, especially by the measure of being a true freshman in his first start. That said, there are still big question marks that are being completely overlooked and ignored. Both of those can be true at the same time.
Can he throw accurately downfield? He didn’t on a few attempts last night and his pick was a poor downfield throw. We didn’t need him to last night, so the staff didn’t force it. But he will have to be able to hit deep balls for big plays to be an effective starter. This is also something we already know Brennan an do. We know he has the strength and maybe the accuracy would come with reps, but we haven’t seen it yet.
Can he master the entire playbook over the next three weeks? That’s a tough ask for any true freshman QB. But to play well against a team like Bama, a subset of the playbook that worked against a mediocre team isn’t going to cut it. Saban will have that sniffed out over the bye week and eat him alive. Maybe he can, but if it’s too much and Brennan can play, then he should.
Can he bounce back when things don’t go smoothly? Another tough one for a freshman QB. To Finley’s credit, his pick didn’t seem to phase him last night, so that’s a good sign. However, that’s a long way from being down on the road in the SEC with all the pressure on your shoulders.
Brennan isn’t perfect and Finley didn’t underperform. Football, like life, isn’t binary like so many of the people on this damn board want it to be. We have seen Brennan do all of the things above to a high enough degree that he still deserves to be the starter in my opinion. We know what he can do.
Now, if he’s still hurt and Finley goes out and shows he can do the things above at a higher level than most true freshman QBs, THEN we have something to talk about. But one game against an opponent we should have dominated isn’t enough to hand Finley the keys wholesale.
All that said, it sure is good to see multiple capable QBs on the roster. It doesn’t have to be a fight. Let it play out and let the best man win. If nothing else, Brennan should 100% be in a battle to the death for his job this off-season.

Brennan will drop bombs, and then alot of this- which leads to 3 and outs and NO sustained drives.
Finley, nearly EVERY SINGLE PLAY, quick decisions, calm, accurate, juice on ball and touch depending on situation every single time:
I do agree that we will not have a QB controversy, because Brennan will remain hurt. Dude throws for 2 TDs because he ran for the other and he showed that he had the ability to keep the ball on offense. Statistically, if he had as many attempts as Brennan, he throws for 450 @ an 81% completion rate.
I'm not attacking Brennan, but I am saying that TJ Finley's performance was that good whether it was just a good game for him or not, I don't know.
I'm also saying that Brennan's drives have either been quick homerun drives or fizzle outs leading to very little possession time compared to last night. The play calling didn't look as vanilla as some are saying.

In the second and third drive running backs carried the ball 5 times finley carried it 3 times.
If you don’t think that affects how the defense defends then you don’t know football.
He was also nearly perfect throwing the ball in first 3 drives. I think two total incompletions?

I think most people agree that it's still Brennan's job, but he has competition now.

So his less than 30 yards rushing was the difference?
Finley is a much better short yardage option. No matter what, I think he should be used in that capacity going forward.
As for the RPO, the QB doesn’t have to be a running threat to run those plays. This has been covered here a ton in recent weeks. Catch up.
While Finley is more of a threat running RPO than Brennan, no DC is going to lose sleep over him picking up a few yards here and there. He isn’t as much of a threat as Burrow was. He isn’t near the threat that Johnson would be.
Right now, I would much rather have Myles’ deep ball and big play passes than the extra 20-50 yards rushing you are banking on.
