IIRC: Notre Dame said their line exploited the slowness of our line getting off the ball.

I looked up Patterson's bio and he is legit. My question is this. Why has not anyone hired him to be a head coach?

And how long did Miles defend keeping Brick on the staff?

disgusting.

Miles and all the 18 and under delusional Rant SP's. Gotta have all those "Great Recruiters" on the staff. "Great Recruiters" that can't technically coach their way out of wet paper bags are worthless.............

I am not trying to defend Chavis or Brick because It think both got lazy and were terrible at teaching technique. I wonder if the reason they taught the DE's to stay at home was for spread offenses. We only played a couple pocket passing teams a year and we had a very good secondary to handle the WRs. The problem with this is, it is a terrible defense for short passes. And the reason why we were beat on last minute drives and give up so many first down on third down.

I was very happy to hear Les hired coach O but I hope their scheme will be able to defend the spread offenses. What good does it do to beat Bama only to lose to Auburn and Ole Miss?

That's not that impressive because I was expecting the op or first poster to blame les.

This is the rant; we are all better coaches than les.

Who else but the Head Coach would be responsible for the hiring and continued employment of incompetent assistant coaches?

Miles is too nice a guy and too tolerant of assistant coach negligence. That's why we have so few Championships. We win a few games but not many SEC West or outright SEC Championships.

It's not just him either. Too many HC's are stubbornly loyal to their BBQ Buddy hires to the detriment of the program........

When the guy you pay to run your Defense has a proven track record of fielding top 15 defenses and just so happens to be one of the most respected people in his field in the world...you tend to let him run his own show until it shows up otherwise that he is incompetent in doing so. Especially when that side of the ball is not something you personally specialize in.

This.

You cretans who think everything is an indictment of Miles are insufferable. For all we know, Miles could've talked to Chavis about replacing Brick but Chavis threw a hissy fit and threatened to quit if Brick was let go. Is that completely unfounded speculation? Yes, absolutely. And so is blowing up every negative that goes on with the team into a Les Miles lynchmob.

And why would Miles want to shake up a staff that was consistently among the top defenses in the country? Just imagine how much your vaginas would've hurt if our defense became even slightly worse after replacing Brick.

Brick's gone, we've got O now, and that's a hell of an improvement.

We had the number o e defense in the league you fricking wing nut.

Something was working.

You really need to figure something out. You also didn't need the Vikings to tell you this even if you played jr high football. Nothing in the article changes the reality, yet you upon it because you are sad and pathetic

I had that conversation with many people I know that LOVE LSU Football. Most of them blamed the players, I always blamed Brick and Chavis. I never saw any hand technique while they were here. It was always get into in a stance extend your arms and run wide or callaps the middle with our DEs. Most of the time Hunter seemed to be playing the run first, even on obvious passing downs.

Yea sounds pretty bad! We had 19 sacks last year. I believe with Coach O we get above 30 at least this season.

Let's be honest about Chavis though. The dude is really good! It was time to replace him because of late game chokes, but he is a top 10 defensive coordinator. His problem has always been 2 minute defense against Florida in the 90's and against many teams the past 5 seasons.

Worst BBQ buddy is ensminger and he kinda sucked at sun bowl as well. Wo Alexander and robiskie the guy would not have been as good as Jefferson , hatch, graves, or even the int machine in Jamie Howard !
