Definitely a lowbrow fan base. Raginpagin is hilarious.

Seeing as the name was changed from University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) to University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL)in 1999 and LSU's inaugural softball season was in 1997, the answer is yes. They even played that year, splitting the doubleheader in Lafayette.

Come on now. Every fanbase has their share of goons, LSU included.
Just come to the rant during an LSU football game when the Tigers are down 3-0 in the first quarter. The pitchforks come out to want to fire the coach.

No argument here....but the ULL people are on a special level because of the obsession over what they are called. I haven't looked at Ragin Pagin because my computer screen turns red and says Ragin Pagin is a "dangerous site" and it returns me to safety (true story....something about the site makes my computer think there is malware or something); but I guarantee there is a lot of chatter about how LSU won't refer to them by their "real" name this weekend.

FOREVER USL FOR ME!!!!

Excited to be hosting a regional at the Flagship. Tiger fans need to show up and support this team. They have really worked hard and deserve the support. It is also a great opportunity for the rest of the nation to see Baton Rouge.

Figured it would end up that way once we drew ULL
Regardless, the full schedule for the BR Regional came out, so I'm updating the OP.

I am still trying to comprehend how Ole Miss was seeded #12. Makes zero sense. The committee really did a horrific job this year. Their dumbass decisions probably just ruined quite a few teams post seasons opportunities.
I mean Ole Miss had an RPI of 18
LSU was 14
Minnesota was 11

In all seriousness, I hope Torina at least has a short visit with her team about the "rivalry" with ULL...and how it is every ULL player's (and fan's) wet dream to come to BR and beat LSU. Maybe some of the local kids like Landry or Savoie can explain to the out-of-state kids just how emotional and intense ULL will be if they play LSU at some point.
I believe in past that has been part of the problem that LSU has had when ULL has come here. The Cajuns have shown up with a chip on their shoulder and LSU hasn't been able to match the intensity. Our out of state players have no idea what they are in for at noon Saturday if it's LSU and ULL.

I have no problem with Ole Miss being ahead of LSU. They beat LSU 4 times. LSU's overall body of work may have been better though. LSU played a much tougher OOC schedule.
Minnesota not hosting is inexcusable.

Amazing how the 1st bracket shown last night pretty much pissed off 4 teams.
Minnesota because they didn't host.
Bama because they drew the toughest 2 seed probably in the history of this tournament.
Florida because as a #1 seed overall they shouldn't have to worry about maybe having to beat the 3rd ranked team in the nation...JUST TO GET TO OKC
And Louisiana Tech, who was minding their own business and not bothering anyone, and now as a 3 seed they draw a pissed off Minnesota team.
Lots of collateral damage from one bad seeding mistake.

Yeah you are right, our Star pitcher from Zionsville, Indiana has been waiting all her life to beat lsu in Baton Rouge.
Let's not talk about about our star hitter from Columbus, Mississippi, been dying to beat lsu in Baton Rouge.

I'm sure the Louisiana kids have filled her in.

This thread took off, gonna be a long damn week for all 3 teams in this regional. I know you can't look past opponents but i think we handle Fairfield rather easily.

"This one is never easy for me. I have graduate degrees from both institutions.
So which of my alma maters should I root for ... McNeese or Fairfield?
Lol."
You support Arsenal, so we won't bother reading too much into your opinion

From RP

And the announcers briefed about the name.... I probably wouldnt be a good coach, but if i was a coach and lafayette or ULL were on the scoreboard id show umps the ncaa printout of bracket and refuse to allow my players to take field until its fixed. Its supposed to be ncaa tournament, not Sec$pn tournament
quote:
Will they let our team use their facilities, i.e. locker room, etc. Last time i went there for a regional they didnt and they also refused service at concession stands to cajun fans for some things

You say this as though they were ever ahead of Tech, which is not the case.
Edit: Facts to prove my point. Plus, LA Tech has national titles back when they were in the lower division. What are the downvoters' facts to the contrary?

It's part of the problem in the sense that Coach Lotief expects to win and Coach Tornia hopes not to lose to them. Doesn't matter where the kids are from, the attitude of their coaching staff takes over in pressure situations. The LSU players do not realize the level the Cajun fans will bring. I do not know if the local kids from east of Lafayette really understand it if they were not here last time the 2 teams met.
FYI: Your down votes do not change anything.
