Jesus, you're like a woman. YOU ARE RIGHT! Just tell me what name you want me to put up in the title.

again, I am simply disputing that the gap between Bregman and the next best shortstop is not big, if it exists at all. You said there is a bigger gap between Bregman and 2nd place at the SS position than Furniss and the next best 1B. That is an incorrect statement. Good lord, I feel like I'm talking to a child.

Also you can make the argument about the bats from Skip's era. About the fences closer; and your claim would mean shite. It really wasn't the point of the thread. But carry on.

so you've doubled down on not being able to understand what is being debated

Was not the same bat. You can't just make up bullshite and pass it off as fact.

"MacKay was hired as a consultant by Louisville Slugger manufacturer Hillerich & Bradsby in 1989 in the company's attempt to catch up with California-based Easton Sports, Inc., which controlled much of the early aluminum bat market. He developed the full barrel design that he says led to the offensive explosion and corresponding concerns in college baseball. According to MacKay, he left the company in 1997 after seeing the speeds produced by the bats he helped design. "

Yep.

Trey McClure and Brandon Larson were our left side of the infield in 97. I always get a kick out of that defensive masterpiece.

Look at the charts. 1988 versus 1998. Wasn't just an LSU thing. Last thing- ask Skip Bertman to compare who was better.

The barrell got bigger and the materials got "hotter", but it wasn't a drastic change a la 1998 to 1999 or 2010 to 2011.

Skip has said Furniss was one of the best hitters to come through LSU.

Brandon Larson and Russ Johnson, yea.

The other guys, lol, no. Some had flashes(Hill Jr year), others had great over careers(Williams, 4 years). Theriot played a year at 2B and was rocky as frick defensively at SS

DJ. Dude took a position change in 09 for the team. Took it in stride and is now an all star second baseman in the league.

Matt was steady and i remember people giving him shite for his defense when he was really good defensively, esp throwing. runners were taking bases on pitchers

I didn't say all of them were better than bregman. I was merely illustrating the depth we've had at the position over the years. The OP made a post that inferred that the gap between Bregman and the next best was/is huge. And fwiw, Williams was the only one listed that didn't end up making it to the major leagues, yet he finished his career as the all-time hits leader in LSU history. He did make it to AAA and was on the All-Star futures team, so it's not like he sucked at the professional level either.
