All BS aside, Shawn would destroy Cantrell

Its not a knock on Art.....Shawn is a fricking professional MMA fighter!!!!!

Not even a boxer, so the street fighting rebuttal doesn't apply either.

I started school at LSU in 1986 and saw Andolsek and Hazzard beat up a few people. I was friends with Harvey Williams, Slip Watkins, Karl Dunbar and others. Darryl Williams was not a mean dude, just looked mean. I was also friends with Gre Lafleur, who graduated in 1981 and went 3rd round to the Eagles and Jeff Wickersham as we used to party together. But I would take Henry "Too Tuff" Thomas (Our NG) as we used to shoot pool together. How can anyone get any leverage on that guy?

Darryl was as nice as they come. Great guy. As was Clint James (CJ) and Dundee. That whole class was straight class acts......even with Ruff Stuff mixed in (I kid!!!).

I've seen this same thread many times and this story always cracked me up.

quote:

There are a 1000 stories about him out there, but a friend of mine likes to tell this one when Cantrell's name comes up. Friend was a BRP sherriff's deputy, stationed at the office near the old Keg. He said that many times, when a call would come in regarding a fight at the bar with Cantrell involved, more than a few deputies would duck out the back door.On a Wed afternoon, out of season, a call came in. He was a relatively new deputy so he was curious as to what all the fuss was about. He went with 3 other deputies, 2 weighing over 250 lbs & as they entered the bar, they could see Cantrell playing a pen ball machine...they paid off back then...in a far corner. Taking only a few steps inside, one of the bigger deputies yelled at Cantrell to come along quietly. Cantrell didn't blink or hesitate: he picked up the pen ball machine like it was a piece of foam rubber, swung it around & walked steadily towards the deputies. Not saying a word. As he approached, he started swinging it back & forth, staring into one set of eyes at a time. The lead deputy immediately called for backup, went back outside to wait. 3 units pulled up, 2 deputies in each & then & only then did the 10 deputies go back in side. Cantrell was sitting at the bar, just staring at them. It took 7 to jump him while the other 2 cuffed him. Charges dismissed down the road.

Rusty Domingue

quote:

One of the most dramatic plays in the history of Tiger Stadium doesn’t appear on any of the renovated football cathedral’s three massive high-definition video screens today. The emerging star behind it has all but disappeared from the annals of the program’s illustrious history.

The story of Rusty Domingue began like so many others that came before or since. An impoverished youth blessed with enough athletic talent to play their way out of the ghetto. Only before he could cash in, he experienced a dramatic fall from more befitting the end of a gangster flick.

This fall marks the 40th anniversary of Domingue blocking what would have been a game-winning field goal to seal an unlikely 6-6 tie with No. 1 Nebraska to open up the 1976 season.

Later that same night and little more than a mile away, his life came crashing down around him in the span of a Tigerland bar fight. Personal demons he’d carried long before arriving in Baton Rouge boiled over into drunken bloodshed. Domingue himself was too immature to realize it at the time, but his football career and personal freedom were forfeit the moment his blade plunged into Richard Connelly’s chest.
