The team lost its Saturday starter, 3 hole hitter, (#1 HRs #2 Batting Average) (potentially Friday starter as well going into this weekend) just like other sports with the portal talent is spread out some injuries can completely alter a season.

While that sucks and obviously hurts, this team sucked before that happened.

Yeah, people will say the season was already done when Moore got hurt, but we're going to have to go 8 SEC series without him.

Just for fun, a time a team had a successful season without their Saturday guy was in 2023 when Jay won a title without Taylor, Edwards, and Shores.

They were already sucking before that. Cooper Moore was average at best, and Jake played against Ole Miss and A&M.

But you could argue we'd have at least 3 more wins in conference play with him. Without him, every weekend had a full bullpen game, which also impacts who you can use on Fri/Sat.

Like it means your best bullpen arms are needed for 5 more innings a weekend, and that compounds pretty much every day.

When did he actually get hurt? He started to struggle at ole Miss.

Yorke, and the bullpen add Evans slow start killed the sec schedule.

Is he that wrong?

6 starts. 3 wins against trash to open the year, 3 losses against better competition to end it. Didn’t even get through 5 innings in any of those latter 3

Thank you.

I don't know the F is wrong with some of these Jay Johnson bashers, but most teams would struggle losing 2 of their top 3 starting arms and then their best player.

Let's take Mississippi State's 2 best arms and Ace Reese off their team and see how they do.

I am encouraged LSU even competed in this series like they did. How does Mississippi State give up 8 a game to a Jake Brown-less LSU lineup? With their best pitchers.

When they started off ridiculous hot off of the Jacksonville tournament most people at that point in the year said cooper Moore was the best starter of the 3. Threw 4 pitches consistently for a strike, was he the best metrics? Probably not but best stats to the point where he got hurt.

successful

We've won six SEC games. We're a long, long way from being successful.

who is that best player you refer to? If it is Brown, he was hitting .218 in the SEC. Maybe the problem is that he was the best player,,,,although he never was, Curiel has always been.
