I posted this in another thread on the topic:

He may have two years of eligibility left if the NCAA grants him an additional year of eligibility for a seventh season on medical grounds and that is not a given. Additionally, he cannot apply for the additional year until he has exhausted his eligibility in 2022.

2017 FR played in 6 games
2018 Took his redshirt but played in 1 game.
2019 RS So played in 10 games
2020 RS Jr played in 3 games but a year of eligibility was not exhausted due to Covid.
2021 RS Jr injured did not play
2022 RS Sr

NCAA rule is you have 5 years to play 4. With 2020 not being counted by the NCAA, 2022 is year 5.

To get a waiver for an additional year after exhausting eligibility, a NCAA waiver panel would have to approve his application by a 2/3 majority. Granting a sixth year of eligibility is rare and a seventh is unprecedented.

Brennan has to approach 2022 as being his last season of eligibility.

That is how it was explained to me... I have seen player like Jonathan Giles get rejected, but others like Case Keenum get the extra year granted. I doubt he stays for 2 seasons tho.

No, you have 5 years to play 4. Only one Redshirt.

The only way you can get a 6th year is if after a medical redshirt and you got the same reinjury. 2022 I believe is his last year of eligibility

The COVID year (2020) changed that.

Everyone with eligibility that year gets an extra year.

This is unprecedented situation. If there was ever a reason to grant a 7th year, it would be to Brennan.

Agree with you there.

Won't need it when he passes for 5000 yards and 50 touchdowns...

Man is gonna be around longer then that defensive tackle who seemed like he was around forever from like 2005-2012. Alexander I think was his name? 99?

Is this the guy that seemed to block an extra point every game?

even less of a chance that he’d take it

I think he could make more money being the starting QB on a top 20 LSU team than as a 4th-5th round pick in the NFL. If that is the choice, probably makes sense to stick around another year..

I think the eligibility clock is 5 years to play 4. If I understand correctly, there is a time limit to complete your elegibility.
