the only "momentum" from the bowl is that lots of young guys got a ton of more practices in prior to spring so their development should be accelerated.

For all you guys privy to practices and the scrimmage, has JJ's release looked ANY better than last year? Has he not compacted it any?

At the scrimmage Saturday, it appeared to me that he still has a really long, slow windup and release. But then again, I was never a fan of Matt Flynn's windup and release (maybe unfairly comparing him to JR).

Lee clearly throws a prettier ball, and appeared to be going through his progressions several times, whereas JJ tended to duck and run after Option #1 failed to pan out. That said, Lee still managed to find the wrong hands. At least in a scrimmage, it is still LSU touchdown.

there have been many terrific QBs in college and NFL history that did not possess the greatest of mechanics...JL throwing a better-looking ball in Spring practice means nothing to me..i'll bet ya Lee looked pretty good in practice before last year's forgettable season too.

Chicken - There was NO pressure on Lee in the UF game, 4th qtr that is. I thought he did well early in that game and expected LSU to win after the LSU 3rd qtr score. If the LSU def could have stopped UF's 1st drive of the 2nd half, I think LSU wins. Lee didn't loose that game, the defense did.

Really? I just looked at his stats in that game, before that last scoring drive at the END of the 2nd quarter, he was 4-10 for 27 yards and 1 int. I'm not much of a sports guru, but i wouldn't exactly call that doing well early. My point is that there were more than 1 game when Lee didn't start out well and we got behind early. But one thing that i did like about JJ is that he started both the arkansas game and the Gtech game out great in the arkansas game he was 6-11 for 96 yards and 1 touchdown in the first half, in the georgia tech game he was 11-12 for 129 yards and 1 td. Once again, that is a great way to start the game!

In college maybe, but the pros are all about mechanics. What terrific pro QB's didn't have good mechanics?

In the UF game, and counting the scoring drives before and after the half, I thought Lee looked very capable considering the rowdy crowd. Also thought the 3rd qtr UF score after the LSU score was a season changing event for both teams. They went in different directions, especially Lee for some reason.

I'm expecting your highly paid DC to right the def ship, and QB not to be a deficit this yr.

Have the coaches fixed Jefferson's mechanics at all?

The kid is a good throwing coach away from being an all world talent.

And anyone who gives up on J. Lee is pathetic. I won't be shocked at all if he goes out and has an amazing Spring game and people start to forget last season. But still I think JJ is the best option for our offense because of his athletic ability and coolness.

And exactly what do their records have to do with whether or not Lee gave
up? Seriously, Doc, answer the question: in what way are the opponents' records relevant to the question of whether Lee gave up or not in those games? If you cannot answer that question solely in terms of how their records defined whether Lee gave up or did not give up, then it will prove yet again that your commentary regarding Lee has nothing to do with contributing to the conversation but rather is solely focused on taking every opportunity to trash, insult or denigrate him.

You cannot help yourself but bash every comment made regarding Lee that isn't a complete and total trashing of him. It is pathetic how obsessed you are with trying to make everyone else hate him as much as you do. Well guess what? Most of us on here are way too emotionally healthy to obsess with hatred for a kid playing football for our team. So you are doomed to failure. The only ones who will ever hate Jarrett Lee the way you do are your fellow misanthropes who already do.

So get over yourself. It's boring.

But also no excuses for the kid can be made because he had been in the for 2 years, being a RS Frosh last year

This just isnt true. Last yr was his second yr... he had been here one full year at 4th string behind MF, RP, and AH.

That is JL's BIGGEST excuse that you just totally blew off.

There you go ... we have a solution. Since Lee seems to start badly, but get better later in the game, and Jefferson starts out on fire and then peters out, we should start JJ in the 1st half and then have Lee relieve him in the second half.

Can we now end the JJ vs JL discussions until at least the fall?

then why'd he throw picks (6's) in the second halves of games last year?

Didn't he have something like 17 interceptions? If he threw 6 in the 2nd half, that means 11 in the 1st half. 6 < 11 ... correct?

What's your problem?

If Lee has similar results to last year, sure. But I'm willing to give a kid a chance to redeem himself. If he shows progress throughout the Spring and Fall, he deserves to be included in the competition for QB.

I believe we are all missing one valuable point when it comes to JL. Even the coaches didn't feel he was ready to start in this league. Andrew Hatch, whom we all saw had little to no arm at all, started over JL. Hatch obviously started over JJ. I don't really think Miles had any intention of playing JJ last year at all.

So for anyone to believe that JL is and can be some Manning type passer I think is a flight of fancy. The coaching staff last year didn't think he was even ready to start in the SEC over Andrew Hatch.....so what does that tell you?
