And I LOVED the block JJ did...nice job!

Now DP should have tried a little harder to get in the end zone. He's a bigger guy...lower your head and crush those guys.

i hope people dont group that play under typical miles madness

that was a well calculated, well timed, well executed play that was fairly high %...just because it caught bama off guard doesnt mean it was some wild, backyard, drawn in the sand annexation of puerto rico play...cause it wasnt

Yeah I know and I agree. It was well designed, well calculated and specifically implemented for that very situation. I liked the call. I also call it a "trick" play because it was an unconventional play. two pitches, reverse to a TE. Soemthing they never ran before.

I don't have the stats in front of me but you have to admit that the vast majority of 4th down conversions, fake FG's, and misdirection plays that LSU runs are successful. Miles does not mind using these plays more routinely when he has players that he is confident can execute them properly.

I feel for anyone that was reliant on Hawthrone to interpret what happened.

He also fricked up the nevis fumble call, screaming about Sheppard forcing a fumble and Nevis recovering. WTF!!

Hawthorne is the worst play-by-play announcer in college sports. I listen to other broadcasts all the time on Sirius and it's clear LSU needs to invest in a better broadcasting team.

Sure Hawthorne bleeds purple and gold. But come on, if you think Miles is an idiot you must think Hawthorne should be institutionalized!!!

Perhaps a better way to say it would be that Miles will use these plays opportunistically (rather than routinely) when he has the players to execute them and he has created an expectation on the part of the defense that gives the play a high percentage chance of succeeding.

Nice block by JJ. Really thought that would get Peterson the TD.

It would have if Peterson had cut back to the right. No complaints though. It was a great call and it obviously faked Bama's jock off.

I called the play I thought it was going to be just by the formation, I told my brother, "pitch to ridley, oh god!"

then when it happened I thought i was right, until DP was streaking down the sideline, happened VERY fast in real time.

Think about all the insane plays Miles has called that have worked out. Now imagine if those plays had gone wrong. He wouldn't be here

What if What if! They did work dude!
Think about all the kids who want to play for a guy with big balls who calls plays like we executed this Saturday. If Les did not call those plays we would be a less effective football team. Therefore less recruits would want to come to LSU. Stop playing the what if the play did not work game. These guys practice these plays and they work because they are coached well and we have great talent. Stop the complaining already. We just beat Bama and we could be going to a BCS bowl if we take care of business. That play really was not that tricky. It was just a little misdirection play. We should use a little misdirection more.

You could argue very convincingly that he has had the player all along but he and/or Crowton go into a shell and severely limit the players abilities.

Has anyone ever seen that play before?

I think it's a Miles invention.

Hawthorne says "jefferson completes the pass...no he keeps it and picks up the first down."

If you listen to the broadcast he totally fricks up about 10 plays, clearly one of the worst broadcasters in all of CFB. He announced that Jefferson handed off to "Deangelo Benton" out of the backfield when it clearly was Murphy. Does he thinks Deangelo plays RB?

Imagine if that play had been busted.

I thought that originally. But when you go back and watch it, Jefferson hesitated after the pitch in order to block the DE in case he didn't crash in.

And they set it up all game. They ran that pitch to Ridley five times before that play.

Come on. How many times do you think Les can call that play (or comparable plays) and have it succeed? If the'Bama player on the left side stays home, it gets crushed in the backfield. He knew it would work then because of what 'Bama had been doing. Do you think Nutt and Petrino won't be coaching against that play?
