(Game time decisions) since this is a hot topic and fresh in fans minds I will start with it. In my opinion there are great, good and below average game time coaches. The great ones are one or two steps ahead of their opponents, the good coaches are one or two steps ahead of the game, the below average coaches watch the game like the average fan and decisions are made at the moment they happen. In the old miss game I’ve read several times about the last T/O called, I’ve even read about the fake punt T/O called. Let’s talk about the second T/O in the second half. LSU has the ball they are across the 50yrd line. Now this is what should automatically go through the mind of not just a great coach but a good coach as well. Based on our D’s play in the second half given up long methodical drives a field goal and a chance to get the ball back with enough time to score a TD the % is low,(either way a coach should ALREADY have his mind made up) so its automatic, this is fourth down territory. So what actually happened? We throw a pass on third and long that was incomplete. The team waits for a decision from their head coach that should have already been determined. Now the decision is made the team runs back on the field without enough time to run a play hence the costly time out. In case you are not following me that t/o could have been called after the second down stop of the old miss. Last possession. Like I said earlier I watch the game like this every time, I see this even in our wins, pos-miles fans only see half the errors and only in a lost. Now add the fact that at times he doesn’t even know what down it is or when the clock is running or stopped, you have to come to the conclusion that he is a below average game time coach. Posi-miles fans blame Mett. But adjustments were made by Cam and Mett after ½ time and the game was tied in the 4th. We scored 24 points in the second 2nd half. I liked our chances with over a minute left. (This will go down in history as Mett’s fault) unbelievable!!!!

(stuck in time) top programs thirty years ago could line up their big ugly’s that were 3” to 5” taller and weighed 30 to 60lbs heavier than most of their opponents. As long as you didn’t turn the ball over you were guaranteed success. Now there is a higher percentage of teams you play that have = big ugly’s. O’S and D’s have to keep each other off balance at times. See (2009 – 2011)

(off the field decisions) Jimbo was given to Miles; it is no secret that Jimbo was not happy with miles on the field decisions so Jimbo leaves. In my opinion the Garry Croton hire was not a Miles decision. There was an article that explained the offence that would be implemented it was a hybrid between Miles (Power I) and Croton’s pistil, throw quick pass horizontally behind the line of scrimmage, get safeties to crowd the line and then throw over the top. He basically kept defenses guessing in 2007, he also saved some in the bag for the BCS Natty, off centered line throw to the tight end(VERY NICE). OK 2008 season (malvato) (a miles decision) and I believe worse than most realize. In my opinion Croton had a plan for 2008 season; he brought in Hatch from Harvard to run the option with a two QB situation where he could bring along the fresh. J. Lee. Croton envisioned the D would be similar to 2007; Lee would be on the field half the time and only make 7 to 10 throws a game. So what happened to that plan? Well Hatch was injured (Know one’s fault) the defense was Swiss cheese (Miles fault). Now the FRESHMAN Lee is playing the whole game and having to throw 20 to 40 times a game. So 2009 people are happy because Miles got rid of the problem the defensive coaches. Right? Not so fast! Miles is old school and hired the D coaches but in his mind it was also too many high percentage passes, which brought forth the NEW HYBRID. POWER I, HORRIZANAL BEHIND THE LINE OF SCRIMAGE SAVE PASSES AND THE OPTION. We took away most of what Croton would set defenses up for. Now teams could fully commit 11 players to stopping the line of scrimmage. From 2009 – 2011 we run an offence that made absolutely no sense and yes that is (miles fault). It’s amazing to me pos-miles fans blame players like Lee to this day.

(Recruiting decisions) in comes Little Nicky fresh from the pro’s. First year Miles shows his displeasure in Nicky’s dirty recruiting but does nothing about it. What should he have done? You’re a top five program, you get the best recruiter in the nation that has in roads to Alabama high schools, tell him that is his only job is to get me 4 and 5 star recruits from Alabama every year, give him a coaching tittle and pay him the money.

(underutilizing skill players) Miles has one vision of what every running back should look like, so we take sub 4.4 players and bulk them up adding 20 to 30 pounds on them to run between the tackles. Now they run a 4.6, if that was the only back you had to run in the sec I would understand but we have at least 4 to 5 backs every year.

(Perception is reality) 85% of the time the side line reports flock to miles at half time. The announcers say things like I wonder what he’s going to say this time. Now I told you my opinion of a below average game day coach, but I can understand that to some people being in the heat of the moment can make you freeze up even if you’ve coached for years and what you actually know is not what you actually say. That does not explain his explanation of a screw up in interviews days after it happened and it sounds like he still doesn’t know and when he tries to cover it up he shows he knew even less. You didn’t call a time out early in the old miss game because you wanted to call a time out to set up your field goal block unit. The other team would have to call a time out because they were allowing the time to run off the clock to make that the final play. What? You decided to freeze the kicker before he even reached the field. What?

Miles is here to stay and I’m ok with that I know things could be a lot worst. My frustration isn’t as bad (I know what to expect) and believe it or not I think we beat bama.
