Well we're definitely looking at a 3 loss type season

Good God...

Why does the Rant pretend to know what's going to happen? It's fricking college football. It changes from week to week. Ohio State almost lost to Navy then went toe to toe with USC. Oklahoma State beats Georgia then loses to Houston.

As for LSU, Jefferson should improve over the course of the season. As for him "losing" games for us, that's just dumb and idiotic.

I'm not suggesting that he's going to completely throw away games for us

I just don't think he has the play making ability in the passing game to keep up with some of the better teams we'll face. If our offense is one dimensional and stagnant against top 25 teams then we're probably a 3 loss team at best. If your expectations are higher than that then you're probably not very smart.

Right now, the only team on our schedule that is vastly superior to us is Florida.

9 months ago every LSU fan out there, myself included, was highly impressed with the performance JJ had in the bowl game.

Now, here it is, 2 games into the 2009 season and from what I've seen on here, most are ready to just right the kid off. WTF? Nothing against Lee, he showed a lot of heart and backbone to stay after last season however, would these "negatigers" be more comfortable with Lee back in? You know that the "Pick 6" is coming. Hell it may be with Jefferson but he manages the game better, he's not scared to get hit, which seemed to be part of Lee's problem, and he can adjust after the snap.

Yes, I have high expectations from this team given the talent that is there but this unrealistic expectation to blow every team away is ridiculous.

If that's the case, I'm sure the USC bulletin board site is on fire. I mean they are the "dynasty" right? Blow Ohio State away.

Well, probably not. Won by 4 points.

Stand behind your team, don't dump on them. All these kids committed to the school because of how the atmosphere in the stadium is, the hard playing..... they want to experience that. Not this piss poor microscopic observations.

The coaches know what's there, know what's at stake. Be positive.

And above all else......

This type of logic is just absurdly stupid

JJ wasn't good enough to unseat pick 6 Lee last season but he's obviously improved enough to do it now

How do you know that Lee hasn't also improved significantly?

I agree. I can't believe the amount of posters that are complaining at this point. Hello! We are 2-0 people. You act like we lost both games. Can LSU improve on things? Yes, just like every other team in the nation. No other team is more dominant than us except Florida. Get over it!

The deep ball isn't J.J. specialty but he's not that bad. How many deep balls did J.L. complete last year? His longest pass of the season was to Keiland in the flat that he took to the house.

Ole Miss - (1st pass) a 35 yard bomb down the sideline to LaFell in the air.

Arkansas game - deep pass off the fingertips of Byrd (pass interference call); completed 20-yard pass to Byrd across the middle; 20+-yd pass to Johnson who fell down (should have scored) 32-yard TD to LaFell.

GT game - long bomb to LaFell that was called back was a perfect throw.

Washington - longest pass through the air was 15 yards.

Vanderbilt - 1st incompletion to Lafell and overthrow to Mitchell (bad pass); Pass in the endzone to Toliver was decent (could have been caught if he didn't jump eariler); endzone pass to Peterson (covered by the CB).

This. No one should doubt this young man. He manages the game and most importantly we are 2-0. If we would have played JL, we might be 0-2 or trying to come back instead of leading. JJ can throw the deep ball, however, I believe that he needs to get a little more protection from the offensive line. Everything will improve. I will guarantee you will see JJ throw the deep ball against ULL. This opponent is going to give him time to get comfortable before we play our next SEC opponent. Book it!

Agreed! I don't get this complaining stuff. I've been watching Tiger football a LONG time and this bitching is ridiculous.

BTW- I never said Lee didn't improve and that I knew everything about how his spring camp went but he does tend to fold when pressure is coming and that's usually when a bad throw is made. I am not ripping on him at all, calm down.

I have a feeling people that are saying Jefferson might not be starting next year are going to look like morons/have different opinions by the end of the year.

I really don't understand where criticism of him is coming from. Russell missed open receivers deep early in his career and he seemed to get over it. And as much as people claim all they want is a "game manager" I think you are looking at it in Jefferson.

You're honestly gonna sit there and say the QB position is our weak link? The Washington game they didn't let JJ do anything really... and the Vandy game was played in pretty much a damned monsoon.

If you really wanna know where the weak spot is on the team right now its the offensive and defensive line. JJ was having to scramble WAY too much against vandy. I saw JJ throw a 30 yard strike ON THE RUN during the vandy game so don't say he can't throw the ball deep.

Once the offensive line gels and the playbook is actually opened up fully, I don't have any doubt JJ can get it done.

Not necessarily

But I think that we've got enough chinks in our armor to where we'd need an all conference caliber QB to overcome those deficiencies.

We don't have that. That's nothing against Jefferson. He's young and could very well be a great QB before he leaves. I just don't think he's there yet.

I am just hoping we take care of business outside of UF and find ourselves in a BCS at-large.

That would make me more than happy enough.

Although that is probably delusion as well.

JJ may not be great right now, however, all we need him to do is manage the game and don't throw the game away on costly mistakes. He has a really good supporting cast around him. We have a really good backfield and our wide receiver core is coming around, especially, RJ Jackson. We also seem to leave out one of our strongest weapons that we should use to exploit defenses and that my friend is Richard Dickson. He could very well be the best in the SEC if they start to use him more frequently. This team will make mistakes, but should have a good season.
