Also, regarding the playoffs- be sure the Powers That Be took note of this season, and Bama's 2 game stretch with LSU and A&M.

Again, the goal is for a non-SEC team to win it all. So, here's what you do- you match the SEC team up with a power team (Notre Dame). They will lose, but beat up the SEC team physically a bit. See: LSU this year. Then you follow up with the speed team (Oregon). SEC team, still sore from the week before, can't quite keep up. See: A&M this year.

And, viola! you have a new champ.

MrPackSix talks about National Perception...That is a laugh. When LSU is on National TV and the announcers are asking where are all the fans early in the Third Quarter...that is not good for National Perception. Just saying.

I've been an LSU fan for years, attended LSU and have loved my Tigers no matter how bad or good their teams were/are. I get frustrated sometimes like anybody. I am also someone that knows you can't always win or be on top. We didn't get it done this year, so we have to settle for what is offered bowl wise.

I can remember the years when making it to a bowl was an accomplishment. I'm thrilled with our program, though self admittedly I get frustrated with some of the coaching decisions. Still I support what Les does. I think he puts a quality product on the field every year and for that I am thankful. So for your National Perception...I am in the military and everywhere I go I hear people say, man you guys are always a threat to win the Title. LSU gets mad respect, but some of you need to get your asses out of the state and listen to outsiders opinions. LSU's National Perception as a football team is just fine. But I hear more often than not that our fans (Not all) but some are down right rude and people notice the masses gone from the stadiums early in the second half.

I am sick of coming on this site and having to read some little wet behind the ears know it all young arse frat boy spout off behind some computer screen to STFU, GFY, etc so on. National Perception. GFY MrPackSix. Get over your own insecurities. Hoo Yah to the rest of you that stand by me.

It comes down to which city and stadium. I like Atlanta and the Georgia Dome. I like Dallas but haven't been to the new stadium yet.

Don't care for the Citrus Bowl and I grew up in Orlando.

Hope we go to Atl or Dal

Just to clarify, I did not mean to slam all Frat Boys...just the little prick MrPackSix. If he isn't a frat boy anymore then he is just a prick that thinks he knows it all.

If you're talking about national perception, the traditional idea of the bowl name is much.less important than who you are playing.

Honestly I think more people would be ibtersted and watch an LSU Clemson game than a game against Michigan or Texas this year.

Those two teams suck and are boring.

Most people see Clemson as playing an exciting brand of football and a pretty good team.

I think LSU has more to gain in that matchup than the other potentials that may have a slightly higher payout.

I'm not going so it really doesn't matter. If I was a student I would care.

We've had just one BCS bowl the past 5 years so that's the real issue

I don't think that the national perception is that LSU is a weak team

I wouldn't worry about that

believe in what- that the rest of college football wants anyonr OTHER than the SEC to win the national title?

How is that so hard to believe? The SEC has won 7 years in a row. It's not even the same team, it's whichever team comes out each year. We had an all-SEC championship last season, and this year, if Notre Dame had lost to USC, it would have been EVEN WORSE- we'd have not only the BCS game, but then the SEC championship would be (as it is right now) the "semifinal" to get in; but instead of Notre Dame the other opponent would be Florida.

Notre Dame would like to break through, but then they have their side deal.

Big 12 and B1G have become practically irrelevant. Pac 12 has a fine line to dance, to get a shot. Big East is now as meaningful as CUSA, and the ACC is close behind.

So- you don't think the rest of the NCAA wants to change the system to take away the SEC's advantage?

edited to add- look at this year. Let's say the SEC championship goes to 3 OT with UGA squeaking out the win, and Bama only drops to 4th in the BCS via some miracle. Your top 4 BCS teams would be:
Notre Dame, UGA, Florida, and Bama.

If a playoff were in place this season, with teams decided by a shadow committee, tell me you believe those would be the 4 teams in the running.

I agree the opponent matters. Peach in 2005 was awesome. Peach 2008 not so much and really Clemson doesn't get the adrenaline flowing either. Wish we'd play FSU

Seems weird. In the BCS era, LSU has been to fewer BCS games than VT and the same number as Michigan. Somehow that doesn't seem right.

Why should we settle for less? We are top 5 in recruiting year in and out. We should be top 5 every year.

Simple. If it's not the BCSNCG, BCS bowls > all the other bowls.

Fla State, if they were to lose to Ga Tech, wouldn't be as thrilling either.

Right now, we're looking at maybes-
Peach- Clemson
Cotton- Texas? Oklahoma?
Cap One- Wisconsin? Nebraska?
Outback- Michigan I guess

Of them all, I would say Michigan and Nebraska sound the most enticing, to the average viewer (those that don't know that isn't your daddy's Michigan and Nebraska). Then come the rest. Oklahoma and Texas are big names, but we've played both fairly recently on big stages (Oklahoma on the biggest, Texas in the Cotton in 02). We've seen Clemson in the Peach before.

It's not like playing San Diego St in the Vegas Bowl, so the name recognition is there.

If playoffs were today instead of 2014.
You would have notre dame, winner of sec championship, Florida and either Oregon or Kansas state.
So once again 2 out of 4 would be sec
