Dude, some of these douches wouldn't have claimed LSU back in the 90's

I miss the days of Dinardo and lowered expectations. I could get a 50 yard line ticket to watch LSU play the #1 team in the nation for face value cause all the fricktards were busy cheering for Florida State or Miami.

LSU will not fall off the map. I think they will stay a top 20 team. I do agree that their run as one of the nations elite may be over, but if they are a top 20 team year in and year out, I'll be fine with that.

Remember that game it took overtime and a bunch of missed kicks to beat an average Pac-10 team in Tiger Stadium? You know, about 15 games into your 66 game "Golden Era."

Yeah, but that was a real coach, so he's excused. But then again, that guy lost to UAB, and later ULM. He's a helluva coach...

Katy Tiger,

Even though I believe that your statement is completely wrong, lets say that you are right and we lose a lot this year and a lot next year. We then fire Miles and hire a coach who rejuvenates the program and he goes on to win with Miles' outstanding recruiting classes. So would begin your Golden Era II.

who cares if he was, we are FAR FAR from ever going back to that era of LSU football...we may go 8-4, or 7-5 a few years here and there, but it will be a long while before we go back to 4-5 win seasons...so relax and enjoy the fact that we COULD beat anyone we play, even if we dont.

Back in those days, there were some games you went to and knew there was no chance...

There were high hopes that the hiring of Tonto Chavis, Haley, and Cooper would turn around the slide of the program that started last year, but I just don't see that happening.

I really couldn't care less about the rest of your rant but is Tonto Chavis the best you can do to mock the man/background?

The doom of the program has been predicted since Miles was hired. For all the talk of "inherting" Miles and the AD's office on the whole has not only maintained the program but elevated it.

I am not sure where this theory came from but it seems the view that LSU has all the talent and everyone else is just above a level above Nicholls State or should be!!

Miles probally helped saved the program by getting rid of Perriloux and other bothersome players that in the long term bring a program down. See Miami. If JL had not been so erratic last year the outcome would have have been a lot more postive. This seems to be ignored

LSU is now involved with the most lucrative contract in Sports history that will further help stablize it. Needless to say the SEC and the teams in it will become more the elite.

ALso newsflash. There will be no more Dynasties. That means LSU will not be at a BCS game every year. But yes neither will FLorida or even Bama every year. Parity does have an effect.

LSU is in fine hands Relax

Saying "wait and see" =/= homer

BUT

Saying "the Tigers = the suckage" after 1 game = total over reaction.

Katy Tiger,
I can understand your concerns and feelings, but to say this is the end of an era?!? Not quite, the D will get better each week and our Tigers will finish in the top ten this year after another good bowl showing. Yes, we may have some ulgy wins and lose some of the big games, but the program is better this year. Next year, we will beast 2010. So- Yes Katy, their is a Santa Clause.

ETA: Katy Tiger will be the first person to complain about ticket availability should we make it to a BCS game.

Nail on the head Katy Tiger, nail on the head...

We're not going to regress to the 90s, as incompetent as Miles is, he's no Curly!

We are however well on our way back to the 70s and being 8-4 tops every year and Bama's perennial purple headed bitch...

Les is not as good as Cholly Mac, and Saban is smarter that the Bear...

Les should French kiss Saban every time they meet for making him a wealthy man!

Get used to mediocrity folks!

Season ticket holder here, and yes I'll be there when the stadium is empty and we're struggling to beat Miss State...

I only wish that people like the author of this thread would have experienced LSU between 1989-1999. They would realize how ridiculous they're being. The problem is that most of these LSU "experts" jumped on right during the start of Saban-era or shortly thereafter, and the extent to them of LSU being bad was going to the Cotton Bowl instead of the Sugar Bowl.

If only they could have been around when the "crowd" at the bottom of the hill waiting for the band was about 100 people instead of 5,000 and that you could see entire sections of empty stands and completely empty upper decks during the opening kickoff.

Why would you be fine with that when the last 8 years have proven that LSU should be a top 10 team more times than not?

This is where most people say, "b/c I remember the 90s, etc." With the facilities upgrades, money being poured into the program through TAF and tradition fund fees, and the lockdown we now have on the state of Louisiana with regards to recruiting, there's no reason we shouldn't be a top 10 team at least 60 % of the time as we were 5 of the last 8 years.

The end of the Katy football era is over too. Or at least I think losing to The Woodlands 47-0 and losing again this year is a sign.
