re: American General Life Insurance

I have a friend who just got started out in the financial services industry and can probably find you an attractive rate. I can email you his contact information if you'd like?
The pass that Doucet threw to Flynn versus Alabama.
I would start V Jax. I think Nnamdi is coming off an injury, but I could be wrong.

I like Julius Jones' matchup this week

Who to start (10 team PPR league)

Posted by Schnyde on 9/8/09 at 12:34 pm
We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K & D
Right now my lineup looks like this

Matt Ryan
Tomlinson
Kevin Smith
Andre Johnson
Marques Colston
Braylon Edwards
Dallas Clark
Derrick Ward @ flex

I'm not sure how Ward is going to do in Tampa this year so I was wondering if I should move him out of my lineup. I can replace him with:

Ted Ginn
Cadillac Williams
Leon Washington
Larry Johnson
Patrick Crayton
Earl Bennett

The key to kick offs, imo, is the hang time. If Jasper kicks it inside the 5 with good hang time, that is better than 2 yds deep with shitty hang time. Unless someone can kick it out of the back of the endzone, I'm happy with what Jasper did Saturday.

You guys might be right, I didn't watch a replay or anything, but I think I can remember reading something where Miles said that was his intention.

I'm not sure how much time was left, but if we force a punt and Trindon returns it for a score Miles looks like a genius and you are praising him right now.

I tried to get the ball back and increase the lead before the half. It didn't work out and it happens.

Everything is a concern here at tigerdroppings. We will probably lose 3 games alone just because of the issue you pointed out. Combine that with the other 3 we will lose because our DC sucks. And the other 3 we will lose because Chad Jones sucks. And the 1 we will lose because of our D-line and 1 because of our o-line....Oh shite, we aren't going to win another football game this year..

I wasn't implying that we were going to lose games because of this. I'm actually one of the ones who isn't that worried about what happened during the game. This was just something I noticed. I thought most teams had their QB raise their leg which could also signal the WR for motion. I stand corrected though.

Shotgun Formation

Posted by Schnyde on 9/7/09 at 2:32 pm
I noticed when we were in shotgun formation Jefferson would throw his arm down to signal for the snap. It seems like the defense should be able to key on that pretty easily and get a lot of good jumps on our o-line. Am I worrying about nothing here or is this a legitimate concern?
I am excited about this class, and I also think we will land Lache. What I am most excited about though is getting this class close to finished early because that gives us a head start on some of our stars for 2011.

Katy Tiger,

Even though I believe that your statement is completely wrong, lets say that you are right and we lose a lot this year and a lot next year. We then fire Miles and hire a coach who rejuvenates the program and he goes on to win with Miles' outstanding recruiting classes. So would begin your Golden Era II.

Cole- Good assessment, but I would add as a negative- Helton- you are not going to be a starting punter if you average 32 yards a kick...

I agree with that. Also I would add Josh Downs to the list of positives. He impressed me with his first step and push. Downs and Nevis should be our DTs in obvious passing situations IMO.

My thoughts on the game

I can understand a lot of peoples’ concerns. We have been told all offseason that this team was disappointed with its performance last year, and they were going to come out this season hungrier than ever. Instead last night the team looked a bit sluggish, which was probably due to traveling over 2000 miles. But come on, as a fan base we have to be more positive than a lot of what I have seen so far. Here is how I am taking last night’s game.

We played a hungry team, who is obviously a lot more talented than we expected. Washington has not started school so the 20 hour rule did not apply to them until after they played us. We played against a brand new coaching staff, and we really had no idea what to prepare for and it showed as times. In addition to that, their new coaches seemed to be very good. Holt had their defense playing aggressive. Their offensive play calling was very good if you ask me. On the 3rd down on their first drive, we called an all out blitz, and they countered that with a perfectly executed slip screen for a huge gain. They ran plays that allowed Locker to make plays while on the run. Washington played a very impressive game IMHO.

As for us, there are some things I am concerned about, but I am going to reserve any judgment for a week or two. We struggled against the run early on, but we did much better in the second half. TT is poised to have his breakout season. We put up 31 points while running a very conservative offense. Patrick Peterson is a future All-American, and it looked like Harry Coleman has made a very smooth transition to linebacker. One thing that does concern me though is our punting. It doesn’t look like we are going to win to many field position battles this year, but hopefully Helton had some first game jitters.

With all that being said, LSU came away with their 20th nonconference victory under Miles and fans should be very pleased. Washington looked like a possible top 25 team to me, and if they can keep that hunger maybe they can upset USC in a few weeks in what could be a hangover game for USC coming off their game against Ohio St.
