but I don't think that the 3 games against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and A&M should be considered a warm up for the SEC championship game

Maybe I worded it wrong... Those last three games are gonna be tough... But Coming off a win @ Bama and being 8-1 will def put the team in a hunger mode for more... Yes Arkie will be extra tough...

Alabama schedule goes @Georgia, vs. Arkansas, @A&M, vs. Tennessee, vs. LSU, @MsSt and has a virtual bye week before playing @Auburn

-Likely losses include @Georgia, @Auburn and @A&M. Couple that with the fact LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, and State could all potentially beat them, Bama will finish with 3 losses.

I don't see it that way at all. Georgia and Auburn are the only two really challenging games on that schedule, other than MAYBE LSU. They are not going to lose to A&M or State, should be able to beat Tennessee pretty easily. Arkie they get at home and their defense is built to stop the Arkie offense. I don't think they'll struggle against the Piglets. In short, to lose three games, they will have to lose basically all of the games that are challenging. That's not likely. I'd say they probably drop one of those three, and in a stretch, maybe two.

quote:

Auburn - Other challenging games for Auburn outside of the LSU game include road contests at Arkansas and A&M with a home date against Ole miss sandwiched in between. Oh yeah, and the week after a road game with A&M all they have to do is beat UGA..

Georgia, A&M and Alabama present real threats to Auburn, and LSU might. They shouldn't have much trouble with Ole Miss and Muschamp will be able to handle Arkie's offense, so they could possibly lose anywhere from one to four games, but won't likely lose all four. So yes, getting a win over Auburn would be crucial to any SEC West hopes.

quote:

It is more than likely that we could enter Bama week at 8-0 if we take care of Auburn.

We better be if we want any chance at the West or CFP. The November schedule is ridiculous. Getting out of that with only two losses seems unlikely, but doing so would put us in a good spot if we can beat Auburn and Alabama. Lose to either of those, and it's not realistic to think of winning the division.

I am excited about the season too, but you completely lost me with this-

Bama will finish with 3 losses.

When exactly was the most recent time this happened? I'll hang up and listen.

2010, went 10-3. Any other questions?

This year's Alabama team has an awful QB situation, no playmakers at receiver and a questionable secondary. They have a lot of question marks despite what they have been over the past 8 years.

Based on what exactly? Not saying you're wrong, you very well could be right, but this has been the same story every offseason at Alabama when a quarterback has been replaced. The last 3 first year starting quarterbacks have won a championship.

quote:

no playmakers at receiver

Only one from the '11 squad is on an NFL roster, and he rarely plays...again though, this is TBD. There are 3 former 5 stars in the receiving corps.

quote:

They have a lot of question marks

Who doesn't?
They have the best front 7 in the country, good backs, and talent on the offensive line. I just think "likely 3 losses" is a bit of a stretch

I wouldn't say awful.. But they have questions... I keep looking at the fact they gave up 55 points to AU and then OSU ran all over them and put up 42 points... Bama will NOT be as good this year as it has been.. I can see a season much like 2010 for them.....

Stupid to assume anything with this team . Miss St is the most pivotal game .

We will be fine if we lose to state or atm, the others we will need a tie breaker advantage over.

I like your line of thinking. Auburn definitely will set the tone for the season.

I don't think Arkansas ole miss and A&M are easy wins. We could easily lose to any of those teams

Alabama will be the most important game... Even if LSU losses to MSU or AU and can get to the Bama game at 7-1.. AND Bama is at 7-1 or 8-0, A wn there will vault us into the top 5... The last three games then become a warm-up to the SEC championship......... So Bama is the most important... Yes I would rather lose a game early than being unbeaten and then lose to Bama...

Pretty much

Auburn is the most pivotal game in the first half of the schedule. Bama, like usual, is the most pivotal game of the second half.

Win or lose at MSU, the Auburn game will show where this team really is. Win both, they're in great shape. Lose MSU, win Auburn, shows resiliency. Lose both, and it will be a long season. If they win MSU and lose Auburn, then the focus shifts to the second half of the season.

But none of that is set in stone until we actually see how they play those games. Wins and loses don't show as much about a team early in the year as how they play.

If by likely losses, you mean 1% chance, then maybe. That game last year was even worse than the 59-0 score indicated

I didn't start this thread to downplay the Miss St. Game or bash Alabama.

Just wanted to point out that the way the schedules line up and because of what they did to us last year, the Auburn game feels like a real "must win" if this team is going to have crack at an SEC title.

I simply backed up that point with a few observations and opinions. I'm well aware I could be dead wrong about all of this but it's just as likely I'm right. The SEC West will be a bloodbath this season. A two loss Western Champ is extremely possible and I'd say the most realistic scenario..but like I said, Bama could go 12-1 like most of you think they will.

West is wide open, one game won't determine who wins the west.

Agreed, but I'm saying if there's a game we look back at and say we should of had that one, it will be Auburn at home.

Dropping that game will hurt bad if we end up in a two or three way tie for the west. If for no other reason because it's at home, where a talented LSU team should never lose.

I like everything you said

I can't take another loss to Bama though. I really hate them. Like actual hate
