Not really, they'll have a new QB and coach next season. Everything you see in this game will be completely changed next season including much of the roster.

So you are 12 years old? Makes sense now.

It's been a while since we went to these 2 Bowls...
I'm thinking it will be either
*AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs Big 12 - (Driving distance is a Plus) more fans will travel there for a 8 or 7 win team... SEC wants a good showing.
*TaxSlayer Gator Bowl vs ACC (Just could be where we fall in the allotment)
The SEC will assign teams to the respective bowls in this pool.
- AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs Big 12
- Duke's Mayo Bowl vs ACC
- ReliaQuest Bowl vs Big Ten or ACC
- TaxAct Texas Bowl vs Big 12
- TaxSlayer Gator Bowl vs ACC
- TransPerfect Music City Bowl vs Big Ten
The SEC has affiliations to fill if needed.
- Birmingham Bowl vs American Athletic
- Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl vs AAC or ACC

While many would argue that playing in a bowl game gives next year's team extra practice time, personally, I’d prefer to see the team decline an invitation to a bottom-tier bowl game without 'star players' and/or opt-outs. Most fans, myself included, will definitely not be attending
WTF? Your preference is deny next year’s team an opportunity to develop so you don’t have to be faced with the tragedy of seeing this year’s players opt out?

quote:bowl games are now used as extra time to be able to practice as a team. you get something like 15 bowl practices allowed, so that's the main reason why schools don't opt out of bowl games too often unless they basically have no roster left to play with (Marshall this past year). Extra 15 practices and a game for MVB and a young OL to get better and get experience. You almost would rather the potential NFL guys opt out so that the players that will have to start for you in 2026 will get to run with the 1st team for all of December and start gaining that confidence before Spring.
How about just opt out of all bowls

Most of these guys are out the door, so it is not as huge of a deal as it used to be

An SEC team will opt out of a bowl game over Greg Sankey's dead body. It will never happen.

Duke's or Music City would be ideal.
Charlotte or Nashville would be a better time than Birmingham or Memphis.
