Exactly!

“Muh, you guys apparently have no idea how bad coach o left things.” Same people that defended Miles for doing less with more I bet.

Using this logic we should have Les Miles as HC right now.

I'm tired of correcting overzealous LSU fans, and I'm as positive as they come, but I'm also a realist. 5-7 but hopefully 6-6, been beating this drum since May. What do you all think a 5-7 season looks like? Competitive in all the games they play?

Secondly, this is not a talented team. The sooner you get that idea out of your heads, the smarter you'll seem to other people. We have a few talented players, and that's it. No RBs, no TEs, no QBs, no offensive lineman (I was half wrong about that, but I'm repeating it for consistency), and no secondary. You can't say, "Well, we have some WRs, some DLinemen, and maybe some linebackers, WE LOADED, durrrrrr!"

LSU wins one more game, hopefully two, and it won't be pretty. It wasn't supposed to be. TAMU bought every player they had room for, and look at where it got them in year five. You cannot rebuild a team instantly. What matters is roster turnover after the season, and what holes we fill, just like with your moms.

The fact is Coach O left CBK with 39 scholarship players and about 6 of those transferred out. We only have 65 active scholarship players right now and most of them are not up to the talent level demanded by LSU.

It’s going to take a couple of years to dig out of this hole.

Meh. Les had a lot of flaws, but at his core he was a winning football coach (and I think that is true of Brian Kelly, so chill). The proof is in the pudding.

No LSU coach ever beat Tennessee, Florida, Bama and Auburn in the same season except Les and he did it twice.

The 2011 team, which is by far the finest LSU team in history that did not even have a reasonably serviceable starting SEC caliber QB, did that in Les' 7th season. We remember the 2012 team as a "down" year for Les and that team was roughly 2 TDs from being undefeated. 2013 saw a blowout in Tuscaloosa, but otherwise was a couple of field goals from having that be the sole loss.

Prior to 2016, Les really only had 3 "bad" seasons, 2008, 2009 and 2014 (maybe 2015 would make it 4, but the team won 7 straight to open, so I put it a notch above some of the other 9-wins teams who lost early).

A "bad" season for Les is an average season for other LSU coaches.

Some things take replacing personnel, I think everybody gets that. Do you honestly think we don't have a player on our roster that can simply competently field punts and kick returns?

Boutte wants to be involved more, try him at those positions. There are issues that are personnel issues and there are issues that are coaching issues. Every game BK is yelling at Daniels for not giving his WR an opportunity to make a play. You know what drives home that sentiment....pulling him and replacing him if only for a few series.

JD is struggling to adjust to the speed of the SEC and his inability to process pre-snap or post-snap the defense is making it increasingly more difficult. Yes, he needs time to get his QB in. But until then, this coaching staff has to earn their pay by adjusting to JD's strengths and finding a way to put him in position to succeed.

This is a talented team, although definitely lacking in depth and experience at some positions. Looking prepared is the key.

Let me give you the key:

Group 1 QBs (only one team in this group has two losses)
UGA - returning starter with Natty
Bama - returing starter with Heisman
Tenn - returning starter, 2nd yr in system
UK - returning starter, injured
Miss St - 3rd yr starter in system
OleMiss - transfer with exp and bad record, new system

Group 2 QBs (shite group)
LSU - Transfer with exp but bad record
USCe - transfer with decent record, new system
Ark - returning starter, injured
Aub - no clear starter
UF - newbie starter
Mizzou - newbie starter
aTm - multiple starters with poor record
Vandy - two new starters so far

Year in and year out the SEC goes as the experienced QBs go. It is not what you have but what does everybody else have. Saban is the only one to break that trend when he puts in a new starter but has an all star cast around him.

If you dont have an experienced QB or Bama's team around him you dont have shite...

And I’ve been impressed with how they’ve gotten the roster they have currently.

Kelly coached a horrible game Saturday, roster aside is my point.

Yes. QB was the one bright spot in the game AND the QB competition in camp was razor thin.

BK is ignoring the elephant in the room. This causes the fan base to lose confidence in his ability to lead this program back to greatness.

You think he doesn’t know JD’s shortcomings?

I choose to believe he knows this and is working it within the team because he can’t come out and break the confidence of his one serviceable QB in 2022. Can’t burn Howard’s RS over this transition season and Nuss simply isn’t ready.

What good is it to throw JD onto the fans’ sacrificial altar when he can show the team he’ll shoulder it while working to fix it in practice.
